Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Truono
Hi Bella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, a small town where everyone knows each other. While I cherish my hometown and the close-knit community of friends and family, I have always been independent and eager to explore the world and reach my full potential. This led me to make the pivotal choice to attend college six hours away from home. It brought me my best friends that have turned into family, along with so much knowledge about myself and my aspirations.
At the end of my sophomore year, my life came to a standstill when my father passed away unexpectedly. He was my best friend, and adjusting to life without him has been incredibly difficult. It felt as though everyone else’s world continued moving forward while mine had been irrevocably altered. This experience deeply impacted me and changed how I approach each and every day. I firmly beleive now more than ever that life is too short- Follow your dreams, tell people how you feel, be kind, and to put work into yourself.
In the midst of this transformative year, I decided to apply for an internship in Los Angeles, not expecting much to come of it because I lived across the country. To my surprise, I was offered the position, and just two weeks later, I found myself in California for the summer. While it was difficult to leave my mom so soon after our loss, I felt it was a necessary step for my personal growth. That summer became a transformative experience—I confronted my emotions and learned about both myself and the fashion industry.
Returning home after those three months, I was filled with confidence and a deep sense that California was where I wanted to start my next chapter for myself and my career in the fashion industry. Fast forward to this past spring, when I received a return offer from the company where I interned. It felt like a full-circle moment, affirming that I was on the right path. While it was a difficult decision knowing everyone and everything I was leaving behind I knew it was something that I had to do. I officially moved to LA full-time in May, and it’s been a dream come true to work in fashion for a company I love in a place that inspires me every day.
Over the last few months, I’ve focused on personal growth and becoming the best version of myself. While growing pains come with change, it has been so rewarding making this decisions for my career and myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It would be impossible to say the road has been smooth my entire journey, but I am extremely blessed to have had such an amazing upbringing, with parents who loved and supported me through all of my phases. Because of that I would have to say my fathers passing was and will be one of the biggest struggles i will ever have to face. However, as time has moved on I look at it with the outlook of gratitude. Knowing I would have rather had him the 20 years I did then to have never had him at all, even knowing the lifetime of grief i will live with because of it.
Another internal struggle for me has been the guilt of making the decision to move, knowing how it could affect my personal relationships. I am so lucky to have such a supportive group of people in my life who knew this was the right decision for me and have been cheering me on from afar.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work for a fashion consulting agency that helps brands improve their market presence and profitability. We provide consulting services for both U.S. and international accounts, including off-price sales management. Our focus is on building and leading internal sales, operations, and CSR teams to create a collaborative environment for success. We also specialize in international brand consulting, guiding companies through the process of entering the U.S. market to ensure a smooth transition and strong results.
I’m a driven individual with a lifelong passion for fashion, and I thrive in environments where no two days are the same. The dynamic nature of this industry keeps me engaged and inspired. I love the feeling of seeing our work come to life, knowing all the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into everything we do. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness our impact, and while it’s definitely a lot of hard work, the excitement and creativity make it all worthwhile.
How do you think about luck?
I try to embrace a mindset of gratitude, believing that I’m a lucky person, even if life doesn’t always reflect that. My life has been full of love and loss, and I appreciate every experience because it has shaped who I am today. I wholeheartedly believe in the motto “everything happens for a reason.” Just because bad things happen doesn’t mean I have a bad life; instead, I choose to focus on the silver linings. I find a lot of comfort and peace in the knowing that everything will unfold as it should. Even the so-called “unlucky” moments have guided me to where I am now, and for that, I feel profoundly lucky.
