Conversations with B.k-mckee

Today we’d like to introduce you to B.k-mckee

Hi B.K-McKee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Grew up in public school mostly focusing on band, specifically playing the trombone, till about halfway through my high school years when I realized band wasnt what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. But performing definitely was. So I went I started taking theater classes and fell in love with it and it became my major in college. Quickly focusing on acting and improv comedy. After graduating 4 years later with a BFA I immediately started pursuing acting as a profession, eventually finding my way to The Overtime Theater, a community theater in San Antonio which fed both my soul and my need to perform. By connecting me to The Denials, their house improv troupe and just giving me a place to be myself with other like minded performers. The theater and acting kept me busy enough till the need to grow again became too much and I ended up out in Lala Land herself, Los Angeles. I have been here since 2017 as an actor/performer. I call myself an odd job enthusiast as I will take any gig I can to make sure I can keep pursuing this profession I love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely NOT been a smooth road. Some miss matched reps, taking some jobs over others that could have pushed me further down the better more successful path, hell I think college might have not been the best path. And just jumping right into performing, but…hindsight and all that. I dont necessarily think of the bumps as mistakes, but learning opportunities. Allowing me to grow and learn and mature in my understanding of this crazy world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love doing all things creative, especially performing. Id like to think i am a funny guy, I love performing improv and making people laugh. But I also love doing spooky shit. I work as a scare actor and that work is so much fun. I have worked for several years up at Six Flag Magic Mountain for their Fright Fest event for over 6 years and theres a lot of fun to be had every year. But on top of that I am a photographer, I shoot under the name of Enygma Photography on Instagram. I love taking pictures and capturing people and how different and wonderful they can be. Also how spooky and weird. Love me a wild and crazy photoshoot idea.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I mean the most obvious one is I have a younger face so I tend to get aged younger in a lot of ways. It can help with finding roles but not always the best when I want to get into more serious productions. I’d like to think I am a pretty open person, which may be surprising in this age of privacy. I like to talk and connect with all kinds of people. People can be just so fascinating to learn about. And I’d like to think im fun too!
