Today we’d like to introduce you to Aniyyah.
Hi Aniyyah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am an independent R&B singer/songwriter from East Orange, NJ currently residing in Los Angeles, California. I started my career off writing and producing my first single Was It Worth It in 2017 followed by my first EP titled Aniyyah. To help promote my releases, I hosted my very own concert which sold out within the first week of ticket sales. Following the success of the concert, I released what soon became my second EP titled What It Cost Me in 2022 and a couple more singles over the next few years. I furthered my career through theater performances, local gigs, an LA collective I joined as well as the development of my social media presence. I’ve made my impact on many stages along with appearances on TV One, BET, R&B Live, the Newspaper and have toured internationally. Today I continue to grow in my craft with the release of my latest singles, You Lose and Immanity. Following my release, I recently opened for Eric Benet & Raheem DeVaughn’s ‘An Intimate Evening’ concert on December 5th at the State Theater.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been smooth due to the fact that I receive many No’s throughout my journey. I have auditioned for many tv shows and music competitions and have received constant No’s. The challenge of this music industry is that you just never know who you will run into. So, I have had to stay vigilant and constantly educate myself so that I’m not taken advantage of. It’s tough being a black female in any industry that is heavily male dominated. Many simply don’t respect nor take my craft as serious as I do which can be discouraging at times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time singer/songwriter. I specialize in songwriting, marketing/advertisement and content creation which I am best known for. I have a background in dance (contemporary and ballet). I am most proud of how much I’ve grown in terms of my overall brand. My sound, my look, my artistry and the creative direction that I have taken for myself has been tremendously impactful to my career.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to work toward becoming a main stream artist as I climb Billboard charts. I believe there is a place for me in this industry and I don’t plan on stopping until then so keep watching!
