Conversations with Andriana Garbiso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andriana Garbiso.

Hi Andriana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was that kid in high school who walked around with a camcorder interviewing anyone and everyone, excited to hear people’s stories. Today I’m a stunt woman and actor writing her first feature film. I want to bring inspiring and real underdog stories to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a single mom, starting a new career post-divorce with minimal income was a challenge. At the time, I lived out of state and jockeyed taking the bus and renting cars to train and show up for auditions. For a while, I even sold plasma for gas money.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Most women my age are transitioning out of stunts, whereas I just got my start a few years ago. The double edge sword of flattery is, I’m typically cast as a badass and often the only woman in the room, however, there should be more badass women in the room. I’m learning everything I can about filmmaking to create and direct others in such roles.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Filmmaking is a business. You can network and make friends but EVERY day, every interaction, every job is an opportunity at a new impression.
