Conversations with Alice Jimenez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Jimenez

Hi Alice , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Solarmoon Sanctuary was started after one of my neighborhood crystal shops closed down a few years back. My husband and I attended our first sound bath there and I remember telling him, “I feel so much lighter. Everyone needs to experience this!”

The soothing sounds allowed me to dive into a deep meditative state. I was blown away! I enjoyed the sound bath so much that my husband got me a few singing bowls so that I could play them at home. When the shop closed its doors, we realized no one else was offering this service in our area. This is when we decided to hold space and offer donation based sound baths for the community.

We started at local parks, Mariposa Hair Studio in Torrance, and at Silva Taekwondo in Inglewood. Our friends offered their businesses once a month for us to host events because they believed in our craft.

Surprisingly, the community did not mind meditating at a hair salon or martial arts studio and that’s when we knew, we were on the right path. Overtime, we have incorporated Kundalini yoga, healing circles, cacao sittings and retreats into our practice. Solarmoon Sanctuary continues to grow and we are honored to be of service.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wouldn’t be an adventure without encountering a few bumps on the road. Meeting facilitators whose intentions did not align with ours was the hardest. Learning to say no when something did not resonate or feel right was sometimes hard. Truth is, this
practice is very sacred to us and we want to build community with souls who truly value and respect their craft, this is not a business to us it’s a movement. It has been a challenging road full of wisdom and gratitude.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are Solarmoon Sanctuary and we believe healing is for ALL! We offer public and private sound bath meditations, Kundalini yoga group and 1:1 classes, cacao sittings, healing circles and retreats. Think of us as your mobile healing service. We bring different healing modalities to your home or work space, and special occasions.

We also always make sure to make our services accessible to everyone, regardless of lack of funds. So we make sure to periodically hold space for those in need, and that we take honor in.

Pouring our hearts into our practice, honoring the cultures these modalities derive from, giving back to our community and working with integrity, is what sets us apart from others. We have become the change we wish to see in the world.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Staying true to our roots, genuinely being ourselves and keeping it real with everyone we cross paths with is important to our success.

There is nothing like building and feeling a strong connection. Therefore, being real is essential to connect with others and make an everlasting impact in others’ lives.

Being in tune with each other as husband and wife and with our children as a family is also a big part of our success. Because healing and nurturing starts at home, You can’t go out into the world to do this work while your home and family are a mess, we make sure to be well at home, to be full in our hearts and spirits within ourselves before we set out into the world. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
