Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Arevalo.
Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was raised in a small town in Bentonville, Arkansas. Since I was a little girl, business has always been a part of my life. Beauty is something that has always fascinated me. My mother is my role model. She hasn’t had an easy life. She was a single mother of three who worked three jobs and never complained. I grew up watching her do her makeup everyday. I saw her choose the right lipstick and apply just the right amount of blush and shimmer on her eyes. She looked so beautiful, so powerful. I felt like she was ready to take on the world. I didn’t know what it was, but I was fascinated. Over the years, I went to school and worked, but makeup and hair was something that I kept coming back to and at the age of 20, I decided to become a stylist and moved to Los Angeles to fulfill my dream. For years, I helped my parents start and run their own businesses and felt confident I could do the same. I love helping people feel beautiful and over the years, I have realized that makeup and hair doesn’t make you beautiful but enhances existing beauty. It empowers the people who wear it and builds confidence. I believe we are all diamonds and sometimes we need a little polishing to bring out that shine.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving across the country was hard for me. I missed my family and friends and the city was a big and scary place for a country girl. I often felt lonely, homesick and overwhelmed. I also felt a fair amount of self-doubt. I was afraid that I made the wrong decision.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hairstylist and makeup artist. I specialize in keeping the integrity of the hair by educating my clients in using quality products from trusted brands. I also specialize in enhancing existing beauty. I’m known for prioritizing the health of hair over its physical appearance. I’m proud to have persevered in the pursuit of my dreams and goals despite challenges and obstacles that could have easily kept me down. What sets me apart is my genuine interest in building personal connections with my clients. I believe that the better I know my clients, the better I’m able to provide them with what they need.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I learned that nothing worth having comes easy and that success comes from constant effort and dedication to your craft.
