Conversations with Michelle and Stephanie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle and Stephanie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We met at Tangles Salon over eight years ago and hit it off. We both decided to leave there with the intention of opening up a place of our own. In September of 2017, we opened Lock & Crown.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been smooth between us, we both have a strong work ethic and the same goals for the salon. We learned early on that communication is very important in order to keep moving forward, so with keeping that in mind it helps us to keep it cool.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We do hair, we specialize in color, balayage and cutting. We are known for giving clients a look that will compliment their features while keeping their hair healthy and style fresh. We are most proud to offer a space that people feel comfortable coming into, and we are proud to have the team we get to work with all the stylists are soo talented and it makes for an inspiring environment to be in. We are big on education, we love to learn the new trends and techniques for cut and color, which helps us to stay on point of what ideas come through the door. We are a very chill low-key space with stylists that just wants to give you good hair.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Well, we definitely learned you can never have too much money in a rainy day fund or in this case an unending snowstorm. We also learned to pivot and be adaptable by utilizing different avenues of retail such as online sales and curbside as well as curating “beauty boxes”, by doing that it helped us to stay engaged with our clients and survive these crazy times.
