Conversations with Kit Karlyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kit Karlyle.

Hi Kit, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello everyone. Thank you for reading my story.

Kit is my birth name, (also my mom’s name) and I’m half Chinese.

Happily, I live an international wellness lifestyle with my husband, and celebrated my 60th birthday this year.

To get to this point in my life has been  interesting, challenging and fascinating at times…but most certainly transformative.

Being a “Type A” personality can definitely take its toll. Sometimes quickly, but in my case, slowly and silently. After working on Wall Street in a highly-charged and highly-stressed corporate position for 14 years, my body started to break down.

At first, I just rationalized my way through it, took pain pills, and carried on. Heck, I was (seemingly) strong and in my 30s – how bad could it be? And then I landed in the hospital. Not once, but twice. My body was trying to communicate to me. Maybe next time, I might not be so lucky. And I finally listened.

Leaving my “A” type world behind, I began a journey of self and personal healing that started in Bhutan and Nepal in the Himalayas. My journey continued for fourteen years and through 74 countries.

During that time I experienced many healing modalities and wrote a book about what I learned and how to create them in the comfort of your home – no travel required.

My book is titled: Ancient Healing in a Modern World: How Secrets from Ancient Cultures Can Rejuvenate Your Mind, Body, and Soul.

My Profound Shift
A turning point in my life was the honor of being the Advisory Council Chairperson for the Salvation Army in Skid Row for six years – three successive two years terms. It was during this time that I was able to understand the suffering that made folks homeless and why substance abuse was so prevalent. I used my position in corporate America to help as best as possible. To that end, I held a job fair for a group of formerly homeless from the Salvation Army program and gratefully was able to find employment for over 200  hopeful applicants in one day.

No amount of money, fancy title, or anything purchased could replace the feeling of pure joy I felt for being of service in that way. In essence I discovered a new purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not easy…Where do I begin?

Self-doubt and fear about whether I was doing the right thing were constant (and unwelcome) companions.

How could I leave a lucrative position and become nomadic in order to find a natural way to cure myself?

If I did find them, would they be effective?

Was this a good idea at all? Am I totally nuts?

Could I continue with purpose outside the world that I knew so well?

Leaving the security of a career and home, I chose my health, and took a leap of faith.

My first challenge was being a woman alone, trekking the Himalayas during a time of civil and political unrest in the region I was visiting. I did my research, tempered my travel style, and learned to fit into the countries I visited.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an author, speaker, coach, and retreat leader. My coaching focuses on both one-on-one and group coaching sessions designed to optimize wellbeing using natural methods that can be done at home. My retreats, called “Regeneration Jumpstart” are located in two healing places that I found to be life-changing for me. These places are:

  1. Northern Italy for the volcanic mud treatments, thermal water and “La Vita Bella” and;
  2. Slovenia for its untouched nature, thermal water, and cutting-edge bio stimulation treatments.

The natural healing properties in these locations coupled with an intensive week of self-reflection and wellness activities are designed to be a transformational experience that uplevels body, mind, and soul.

Once we’re traveling again, I can’t wait to introduce these beautiful locations and benefits through Regeneration Jumpstart.

My book, Ancient Healing in a Modern World can be found on Amazon.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
There are a few that I feel are significant.

My consistent curiosity coupled with a practice of gratitude have guided me well.

An ongoing focus on seeing the beauty in all things and spreading joy any way possible have created profound connections that I cherish.

These characteristics, combined with my purpose to be of service, have successfully enabled my clients to live their best and highest selves.
