Hi Jamere “FIVE”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
PACOIMA went 2-3 months straight with legends passing away and being taken from us. Every weekend was a funeral link up. So a friend hit me up one day having a regular convo on Instagram and he mentioned all the recent deaths and finished with, “MAN, what’s going, our #PACOIMALIVESMATTER too. Since that moment, those words hit me. I thought of putting those words on to shirts. The next week I went and did just that, and they were a big hit! As the hits continued to pour in, I started flooding the city with the #PACOIMALIVESMATTER shirts. Meanwhile, I’m thinking of more and more ideas. I watched YouTube videos almost everyday, and one day RIP Nip Hussle The Great documentary comes on. Another message/ game plan hit me! He owned his city from the rap game to his marathon clothing, to him providing for his neighbor. With me being known for football throughout the valley and not having that anymore, I had to find a new wave for my city to be behind me again.
So, as Nip did with his Famous “Crenshaw” hoodies, I did the same but for PACOIMA. He had the original “Crenshaw H.S. logo” I have now the popular famous “PACOIMA ROCK LOGO” Dropped my first sweater July 11th, 2020 and I have sold over 300 ITEMS myself. Been a big hit, still growing, and still getting new PACOIMA customers as well as customers from all across the valley and LA area. EVEN GOT MY OUT OF STATE CROWD. THOSE WHO USED TO LIVE IN PACOIMA AND WANT TO REP THE CITY AT THEIR NEW HOME, or even former teammates from out of state who just want to support, and I can’t get more thankful for every person who has purchased and helped out the cause. Can’t forget about the Bummy Bussdown line I made in addition to my PACOIMA merch because not everybody is from the PACOIMA. Or not everybody wants to wear it. So I dropped another line for the people I missed! Bummy bussdown is a term in itself. Bummy – not up to par, regular, Casual streetwear Bussdown – fashionable, clean, shoe game on point. Put the two together. You got a Bummy bussdown.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is definitely not easy! You going through your trials and tribulations in the fashion game, just as you would in real life. It’s new for me so I’m still learning ins and outs but the most difficult part is doing it alone. I now have a manager who has been a great help as far as keeping me organized, keeping me on top of all my orders and events. And also keeping my head above water when orders start to pile up! So has it been a smooth road? NO! But Will it all pay off ONE DAY ABSOLUTELY!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Before all the clothes thing went underway. I was a full-time full-blown 24/10 die heart athlete. Football was the dream and the only dream I had. I went to LA PIERCE college where I played football and also WHERE I received my ASSOCIATE Degree. I Then Received a scholarship for football and played at Humboldt State University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. Not only am I know for football but I am also known for being a member of the greatest Frat ever. OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY INC. *RQQ TO THE GOOD BRUHZ. I am a happy camper, I am provider and I am a protector. I have a bad habit of looking out for the next person before I look out for myself. But I truly like to see my people happy. I love a smile and good energy. I am a family-oriented guy a loves my family to the biggest T. I HAVE A SON THAT IS SEVEN MONTHS AT THE MOMENT. And I want to be able to teach him the game and more life! So everything I do is for a big reason! HIS REASON! I can’t tell you what sets me apart from others. I got the same 24 hours the next man or woman got it’s just the matter of, “what are you doing with your time” I’m not to be one up on anyone or one down. I want to see everybody win!
