Breakaway Cafe was founded in 2021 by two brothers, Zach and Nick, who began their journey as a catering company. Their passion and dedication quickly transformed Breakaway into a brick-and-mortar cafe in Culver City. Since then, it has become a neighborhood favorite and expanded with a second location in Venice.

Known for serving breakfast all day, Breakaway Cafe has become a go-to spot for those craving comforting, high-quality meals at any time. The cafe prides itself on delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining consistency in both product and experience, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road for Breakaway Cafe, but the challenges have shaped us into what we are today. Starting as a catering company during the uncertain times of 2021 came with its own hurdles, including navigating pandemic-related restrictions and building a customer base from scratch. Transitioning to a brick-and-mortar café brought new challenges, like managing operations, hiring the right team, and ensuring consistency in quality across all aspects of the business.

Expanding to a second location in Venice was another leap of faith that required overcoming logistical obstacles and ensuring the same level of care and service that our customers expect. Through it all, we’ve learned to adapt, grow, and stay focused on what matters most—creating a welcoming space, serving delicious food, and building meaningful connections within our community. These struggles have only made us stronger and more committed to our mission.
