Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Vianna.
Hi Tatiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from São Paulo, Brazil, but have resided in Los Angeles since 1991. After 20 years of working in corporate America, I began to feel professionally empty and wanting to build something I could proudly call my own, I wanted to provide not only a healing service but a place where others could come to feel beautiful.
In 2017 I could no longer avoid this calling I had been having for years to pursue a career in Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage. I decided to enroll myself in massage school while still working my corporate America job full time. Nearly 12 months into the program, I realized that Lymphatic Drainage, the way I wanted to pursue it was not taught anywhere in the US. So I traveled home to Brazil to study the modality of Lymphatic Drainage, as it is more commonly practiced there than in the United States.
After several courses in Brazil and in more detail courses on the human body and the lymphatic system, I curated my own method and sequence as a practitioner of Lymphatic Drainage. I started out by offering complimentary lymphatic massages in my living room while perfecting my craft. Once clients, friends, and family began asking to book another massage, I took a risk and rented my first studio space.
Today, Brazilian Beauty Bar services the greater Los Angeles area, top celebrity clients, red capert events, specializing in body contouring, post-surgical recovery. In addition, since this unique massage modality is not taught in the US, I launched my own training courses. We offer group training and private courses for full body and face lymphatic drainage, where trainees receive a specialty certification upon course completion.
In addition to launching classes, over the past few years since my first interview, we’ve outgrown 2 locations and today, Brazilian Beauty Bar has its first storefront location in Encino with a team of five employees and growing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Far from smooth, many moments of self-doubt, Financial struggle. Difficulty in staffing, staying relevant in the beauty space and the never-ending day-to-day battles of growing a business.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in Manual Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage this is a relaxing, non-invasive treatment designed to improve circulation, improve the appearance of the skin and skin tone, release toxins and water retention from the body, as well as break up the appearance of cellulite.
Manual lymphatic drainage is an essential anti-aging aid since it contributes to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Since it is our internal filtration device, the lymphatic system is a major part of the immune system, too. Its main job is to filter blood and dispose of toxic waste. Aside from its medical benefits, it is one of the most sought-after treatments for trimming down water weight before big events, photo shoots, etc. It is all done manually without any tools. We specialize in full body and face lymphatic drainage as well working side by side with some of LA’s top surgeons in post-cosmetic surgery recovery to reduce swelling and bruising. We also offer group/private training courses to massage professionals all over the world.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest advice when seeking a mentor is to go to someone who has build a business before, ask for direction from people who’ve been where you’re trying to go. Being transparent is what has worked for me, staying true to myself and offering a great workplace to other like-minded individuals. Besides Social Media being the best networking tool in the beauty space, talking about what you do to others and cultivating relationship with clients is the best thing you can do.
