Community Highlights: Meet Salva Keynezhad of LenZx Images

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salva Keynezhad.

Hi Salva, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from Iran and moved to LA in 2013. Art has always been my passion. I got my degree in architecture and after giving birth to my daughter in 2015, I started to learn photography to capture her sweetness. Since then, photography turned out to be my most joyful hobby, and eventually more and more family and friends asked me to capture their moments for them. During the pandemic in 2020, I decided to turn my passion into a business. My photography business has opened a variety of doors for me from being surrounded by different cultures to meeting amazing families and shooting the most well-known people. I have done photography and videography for family sessions, multicultural events, and music video clips.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first year of the journey as an immigrant professional photographer was rough. Being a self-taught photographer and still maintaining confidence was not easy. Due to a tight budget, I had to know exactly which equipment and features I need to invest in and how I can reach out to the community and run the business. Marketing was the most stressful part since it can get really pricey. However, gradually I found the balance to focus on the photography work and enjoy being out there for inspiration. The road is still bumpy but I believe in myself and that was the only thing that got me through the struggles.

As you know, we’re big fans of LenZx Images. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
LenZx Images is the premier Family Photography and Videography Studio in Los Angeles. My style of family photography is rooted in fine art. The result is expressive, creative, and crisp family artistry that’s unique, fun, and emotional. Curating extraordinary experiences and creating art is what I do best, whether it’s here at home in Los Angeles, Southern California, or somewhere around the globe. I offer family, maternity, newborn events, and headshot sessions.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I used Udemy to learn photography in the first place. The course I took was Photography Masterclass A Complete Guide to Photography taught by Phil Ebiner, Willian Carnahan, and Sam Shimizu. Later on, I watched tons of videos on Youtube to shape my knowledge around the daily trends and business side of photography. Peter McKinnon was one of my favorite YouTubers on this. Later I took courses from Twig and Olive Academy to get more glimpses of hands-on live experiences.
