Community Highlights: Meet Rhonda Ducote of Apriem Advisors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Ducote.

Hi Rhonda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

While I gained valuable technical experience there, I quickly realized that this approach wasn’t what interested me most. I wanted the opportunity to dig deeper with clients, understand their unique situations, and build meaningful, long-term relationships, not just manage accounts.

That desire led me to join Apriem Advisors. From the beginning, I was drawn to the firm’s client-centered approach, which allowed me to focus on guiding families through complex financial decisions while cultivating trust and understanding. Over time, I took on increasing responsibilities and eventually became President and CEO, helping shape the firm’s strategy and culture while staying closely connected to the families we serve.

Today, I continue to work directly with multi-generational families, helping them navigate significant financial decisions and planning for the long term. Looking back, what’s been most rewarding isn’t titles or accolades, it’s the lasting relationships I’ve built and the trust clients place in me and our team every day. e technical experience there, I quickly realized that this approach wasn’t what interested me most. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not always been smooth. Early in my career, working in a male-dominated industry presented its challenges. Being a woman meant I often had to work harder to prove my expertise and earn the same level of respect as my peers. Over time, I learned to navigate those dynamics while staying focused on what mattered most: building strong relationships with my clients and delivering results.

Transitioning into the role of President and CEO also came with its own set of challenges. I went from being able to focus almost entirely on working directly with clients to balancing that with managing the firm, developing strategy, and supporting a growing team. It was a shift that required me to learn new skills quickly — from leadership and operations to business development — while ensuring that the high level of client service I value didn’t waver.

Despite the bumps along the way, those experiences have been invaluable. They’ve made me a stronger leader and reinforced the importance of surrounding yourself with a talented, trusted team. Navigating these challenges has also deepened my appreciation for the resilience and adaptability required to succeed as a woman executive in this industry.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Apriem Advisors is a full-service wealth management and financial planning firm that has been serving families for over three decades. What sets us apart is our holistic, multi-generational approach. We work closely with families to coordinate investment management, financial planning, estate and tax strategies including complex estates, and philanthropy all under one roof.

We are known for building long-term relationships and truly understanding each client’s unique situation. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we collaborate with families, anticipate their needs, and provide guidance that evolves as their lives and goals change. This approach allows us to support clients across generations, helping them navigate major life events, complex financial decisions, and intricate estate planning with confidence.

I am most proud of the trust we have built with our clients and the culture we have cultivated within Apriem. Our team is deeply committed to putting clients first, and that mindset permeates everything we do, from how we design strategies to how we communicate with families. I want your readers to know that working with Apriem means partnering with a team that is proactive, personalized, and dedicated to delivering clarity, confidence, and peace of mind in all areas of wealth management.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Los Angeles is the diversity and energy of the city. Serving clients there, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in the area. It’s exciting to work with families who are shaping industries, building businesses, and contributing so much to the community.

What I like least about the city is the traffic and congestion, which can make meetings or travel a bit challenging. Even so, the vibrancy and opportunities in Los Angeles make it an inspiring place to connect with clients and see so many dynamic stories unfold.
