Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhett Strika.

Hi Rhett, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I came up with the idea of offering mobile psychotherapy and reiki to my community after working as a mobile crisis counselor in rural Tennessee. I realized that many of my clients and their parents really just needed some extra support. That’s where I came up with the honorary godparent’s name. We like to think of ourselves as the little extra help you’ve been looking for to help your family or loved ones. We offer reiki and spiritual services and offer the opportunity to integrate this into sessions. Many of our clients enjoy learning to meditate or about mindfulness. It’s also great that they can talk on beach walks or in the comfort of their backyard instead of coming into a small therapy office and doing genetic activities like board games during a session. Our sessions tend to be much more interactive, and we come to the client. Leaving time for parents to continue making dinner or helping other children in the family :).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say our biggest struggle is trying to get the word out there about what we are all about. Ultimately we would like to work with a development firm to create teacher services to better help k-12 schools implement mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Honorary Godparent Family Spiritual Psychotherapy?
Honorary Godparent is a mobile psychotherapy practice that offers Mobile Psychotherapy. But if I may expand on that, the word psychotherapy itself is derived from the two Greek words: “psych” meaning soul and “therapeuin” meaning care or treatment. So, for our population psychotherapy is literally: “treatment of the soul” or “soul care”.

At Honorary Godparent, we Combine Traditional Evidence-based Psychotherapy With A Strong Grounding In Spirituality, offering reiki and energy healing as well as teachings in meditation and mindfulness. For our new clients, we start by Offering a free Initial 5-10 Minute Video Or Phone Consultation To See If We Are The Right Fit For Your Needs. Our Family Sessions Are Usually In The Child’s Natural Environment, Such As Your Home. Some of our clients are as young as 18 Months.

For those young clients, we consult with parents to help them better understand behaviors and resources for diagnosis if needed. We work with kiddos of all ages all the way Through early adulthood, about 26 Years Of age, Helping Them Transition And Prepare For Adulthood. We offer Life Coaching, Parent Coaching, On Going Individual Sessions For Spiritual And Emotional Counseling Needs. Additionally, we offer Neurodivergent Consultation and Education Consultation for parents learning about school accommodations. For our older adolescents and young adults, we offer College/Career Readiness consultation. We also pride ourselves on our experience with LGBTQ+ Counseling. We are proud to offer workplace training on Sexual orientation and gender identity. Last but not least, we have a deeply spiritual side to our practice that promotes peace through Reiki And Pranic Healing Sessions, Both In Person And Remotely.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being mobile is what makes us really unique. We are able to see what’s going on in the child’s natural environment right away to help with hands-on interventions. We are also able to do creative activities during sessions with our clients because of this advantage. For example, Clients are able to talk and process on beach walks while shooting a basketball, petting an animal, sitting at a park, or in the comfort of their backyard patio. They can show us art or school projects they are working on and connect on a level that they may have not as well in a traditional office setting. And Wouldn’t you love to go to the beach for a meditation or to a petting zoo?
