Today we’d like to introduce you to Reia Park
Hi reia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
People often talk about manifesting, but they never talk about how our dream suffocates us. I dreamt so long to be a designer, and one step closer to my dream always sets me three steps back. I started living my dream after I graduated from FIDM. I spent half a year trying to source to launch a high-end lingerie company, only to realize shortly after, I wasn’t ready. I had no resources, nor the knowledge to make this work. I started working for a wholesale manufacturer in Vernon, California. This dream of mine was making me desperate for experiences, and this opportunity changed my life. I believe the term is called blessing in disguise. I started as an assistant designer to meeting boutique clients to change the samples before production. I went on live as a wholesaler to sell to retailers. Meanwhile, I got my seller’s permit and I started as a retailer. The company was showing me possibilities I have within myself, and it was showing me so many successful WOMEN who had it all, successful career to a happy home. Granted, it is not an easy task, but if one person did it then why can’t I do the same? I was stuck on this momentum of fast fashion life. The high of making a best seller to small boutiques requesting you to join their live sale. My head was getting big, and without a doubt, I quit and started my own manufacturing in China. I’m starting to grasp this is only the beginning of my journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believed in the misconception that starting is the hardest part. In truth, getting adjusted from working for an established business to running my own has been the biggest struggle. The biggest cost is the learning curve of what a company or a manager hasn’t taught you, and worse, all the hidden cost of running a business is never ending. There is no settling in a dream and that is the awful truth of dreaming. The dilemma of putting more work in, vs settling. The thought of settling puts me at ease, but my ambition always gets the best of me. The roller coaster of emotions range from freaking out from not having any type of security to one consumer who believes in your vision.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I learned life is about finding yourself. We started as a young kid to collect little pieces of ourselves, such as the food, clothes, and the colors that we like. We learn to express ourselves with things we like and dislike. The world gets smaller as we broaden our horizon, and we start to grasp who we are as we get older. I think that’s my definition of happiness. I’m at my happiest when I’m in tune with myself.
