Community Highlights: Meet Nikola Parque of SAINT VENETIAN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikola Parque

Hi Nikola, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It’s amazing how the universe works when we surrender to win. I was trying to get sober on and off for a few years starting in 2016 and practicing meditation became my safe space. Then one day in spring 2019, I received a text from a friend who was hiring people to work at a meditation studio that a mutual friend owns and at the time she was managing. I took it as a sign and asked if I could work there and they said yes. The moons were aligning as they say and I left my job at a women’s sober living and started working the front desk at Hallowed Ground Crystal Shop and Meditation Studio, in Venice.

My new job at the studio offered free classes and workshops to its employees. I just absolutely fell in love with Sound Healing. One day one of the meditation instructors said to me, “You love sound healing so much, why don’t you become a sound healer”? My inner critic in my head, started talking back to me and stated, “I can’t do that! Don’t you know who I am? That’s for really spiritual people, not some girl from Dogtown, Santa Monica!” I mean if low self esteem on top of an inflated ego had a name it was me back then! I really didn’t believe in myself but what I did believe in was Sound Healing and knew something was changing from the inside that was working to heal and purge those sacred wounds.

I began to learn a lot about the occult working alongside many talented healers in the Los Angeles area. Those two worlds of the esoteric and wellness are very much a personal exploration for anyone willing to do their own research. I found new ideas and concepts that work for me to this day to deal with any and all issues, if I truly put the work in and look at me and change. I knew I wanted to become a Sound Healer and I made a conscious decision to go for it.

7 months after Hallowed Ground first opened the studio closed for a short period, and the world as we knew it went on to take a great pause due to the pandemic. The first few weeks of the lockdown were really depressing and I didn’t know what I was going to do for work. Then one day I gave myself a little pep talk and realized that this was happening for me and not to me. I made a firm decision to take the time off during the pandemic to learn more about myself and what spirituality could do for me,

Since everything was closed and there was no way to learn Sound Healing in person I decided to look into online courses and I found something that wasn’t overly expensive and learned more than just on how to play the Crystal singing bowls but the science behind the mystery of why I felt the way I did when I was on the receiving end of a Soundbath.

I became certified in Sound Healing in 2020 and have 3 classes a week at Hallowed Ground Meditation Studio. I get to work with private clients at different treatment centers throughout the Los Angeles area. I also have a passion and love working with other healers and often times every month get to create workshops such as New Moon and Full Moon Cacao Ceremonies. It never feels like a regular job. It’s a calling and through my own dark night of the soul, now leading a sober life, I am now prepared to give back to my community in ways that is from my heart and not from a place of ego.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My first one on one session with a client in 2020 was a very humbling experience. This client was a friend of mine and had never had a Soundbath let alone a private one. She brought all her trauma drama and dumped it all over me. I didn’t set a boundary or protect myself by first setting my intentions and calling in my guides and angels to help channel their influence and help me stay grounded during our session. The following morning I woke up totally exhausted. My first thought was maybe this is Covid but then after taking a test and coming up negative the next thought was my one on one session from the day before. So being new to the field it was almost like a right of passage. This was my first challenge and it literally drained me to a point of fatigue for 3 days. All I could do was rest and build my strength back up to get myself straight again. I asked around to different healers I knew if this had ever happened to them before when they were new and they all said yes. I use a lot of sage and palo santo now before and after any session and I always call in my guides, angels, ancestors, and my higher power to help me to help the clients.

Working as your own boss is not for the faint of heart. I live by my wits and am in the business to create a safe space for my clients and help them to the best of my ability. I don’t know who is going to show up for my classes or events so through the years I have learned to stay out of the results, and leave the end results to my higher power.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a trained and certified in both Sound and Reiki Healing. Every healer is different and has their own uniqueness that they bring to their work. Besides the healing work that I do I am also a creative and have my own Bath and Body line that I sell at local stores in the Los Angeles area. I make ritual soy candles, soaps, bath salts, and infuse my products with Reiki energy to give it that extra healing effect for my brand and clients. Being born and raised in Los Angeles I am most proud of being apart of the healing community and having the opportunity to give back to those who were directly affected by the Los Angeles fires and offer free classes. I also train new people in this field and certify them in becoming Sound Healers by teaching them not only how to play the Crystal Quartz singing bowls but the science behind the magic in vibrational health.

What makes you happy?
Today I get to be me, and not what some societal views of what success should look like. Today happiness for me doesn’t mean chasing money, property and prestige. I look at things so differently than I did before my spiritual quest began almost 9 years ago. I get to go inside and look at myself whenever something or someone bothers me and take the next right indicated action while also remembering to stay in my spiritual hula hoop. I have grown right alongside my craft, side by side. I have mentors all over the world that help me and call me out on my BS, and don’t co-sign my negative behaviors. I am most happy bringing people together and watch them come out of their shells. We all get to work through our healing journeys together. As I am doing the healing I am being healed. Going inside myself to do the inner work that I need to do in order to achieve that is a daily mission of mine. Having the opportunity and honor to take people through the alchemy of Sound healing. A journey using ancient sounds is now my magic elixir. But the best part is I am comfortable in my own skin today, and happier having a connection to the spiritual world and a God of my own understanding.
