Community Highlights: Meet Ne’Asia Perez of Modesty Nails

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ne’Asia Perez.

Hi Ne’Asia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2019, I started doing nails out of our apartment on a small TV dinner stand and then from there I was so motivated to be the best nail technician I can be. As my husband would say practice doesn’t make perfection it makes improvement. I practiced every day praying that God would perfect my hand in every way possible because people assume that doing nails is easy but in reality, any craft requires a lot of patience.

The following year I decided to go back to school to become a wax technician because nails and waxing just go together and then from there, I started to offer private classes for aspiring nail technicians, I really enjoyed the master of it and I went back to get my license to become a nail instructor.

I started to work at different nail salons while taking clients at home. On the verge of it all, we wanted to open our own salon but we thought outside of the box and said why not open a mobile nail salon where clients can have a private experience where we are able to go to private events and parties or just to clients who don’t want to leave home. Where they are able to enjoy the setting of a peaceful environment where they are not judged by the conditions of their nails and feet. I have clients who suffer from what I call nail salon hurt because they are treated wrongfully by different nail salons.

We decided to convert an enclosed trailer into a nail salon. With the help of God, my husband and I worked day and night in freezing cold temperatures to accomplish one of our dreams. This process wasn’t easy but we are thankful to a family who also reached out to help. We did this to let entrepreneurs know that you can do anything you set your mind to as long as you have faith and determination

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Back in Virginia, where the trailer was built we were featured in our city’s newspaper Clients who I thought truly supported us RSVP’d to the grand opening and when it came only two people showed. We didn’t have the support of our community. The biggest struggle when we opened and one we still face today is that people say that we aren’t a real nail salon because we are on wheels. But what they fail to realize is that it’s not about the building, it’s about the love, kindness and the awesome experience you receive.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Modesty Nails?
We are a mobile nail salon specializing in all-natural and artificial enhancements. What sets Modesty Nails apart from other salons is that we actually care for the health and well-being of our clients. We require all clients to fill out a consultation form. During each service, we explain the process performed because we feel it is imperative that clients know what’s getting done during services.

We are known for being the nail trailer that feels like home. We are proud that we created something that seemed impossible and converted into something so beautiful and peaceful. We give all Glory to God who has blessed us with such amazing people.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Throughout my career, I have not had a mentor a lot of knowledge has come from God, reading books and hours of research.

My husband and I are developing our own mentorship program to all aspiring entrepreneurs who are needing help and guidance because it is something that is so important because there are obstacles and at times it gets discouraging and we will be there to push our mentorees to the best of their abilities.
