Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Joy Dammer.

Hi Leslie Joy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This was a career change for me in my late 40s. I had already owned and built two successful businesses which I sold. The reason I got into Skincare and Aesthetics is because I was personally beginning to see the early signs of aging and I wanted to be on the inside track to what were the best things to implement for aging positively and taking care of myself at the highest level. I knew pretty early on that. I had a gift for healing my client’s skin. With my business background, I had an innate sense of how to be a great practitioner, and also how to run my business and optimize my success. I decided very early on, that I was going to take it upon myself to educate the public as to what were the key steps to implement in your skin care regimen that would deliver proven scientific results. I want to help my clients and potential clients to weed through all of the superfluous information that is put out through media sources and marketing. I want to be the one that tells them the truth; the truth about what is scientifically proven, and how basic that can actually be. Everyone who comes to me gets on a protocol called The SkinLIV Steps. My business name is derived from those steps. LIV is 54 in Roman numerals and my protocol is 5 steps in the morning and 4 steps in the evening. By putting patients on a simple protocol that creates change in their skin, they come back extremely grateful and they don’t feel like you pushed a lot of products on them that they don’t need and don’t produce results. I’ve built a strong business over 10 years based on honestly , generosity, science and results.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it’s been a pretty steady, smooth road. If you asked me if there was the time where I felt worried or afraid of the future I think it was during Covid when we were shut down from doing business and we really didn’t know when the end would be for that. I was also very lucky during that time because I have my own skincare line and selling retail supported me when I couldn’t do hands-on treatments. I also started an offshoot of my business during that time where I would send out skincare and chemical peel kits to people‘s homes and walk them through it live on Instagram. That actually brought me a very good income during the times of the shutdown. My business has grown every year by double digits %…I work really hard and I care deeply for each of my clients..

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SkinLIV?
SkinLIV is a bespoke Skincare Practice and Med Spa located in Newport Beach, California. We specialize in results driven skin care treatments, and the newest technology in medical, laser, resurfacing, and skin lifting and tightening. The business is owned and run by Leslie Joy Dammer. Leslie is an advanced esthetics trainer, licensed PMU artist, spa consultant and esthetics mentor. Her training lies mainly in the medical esthetics field, but she stays close to her personal beliefs combining medical and science with a balance of organic and natural products. Leslie has trained several MDs, nurses and hundreds of estheticians in the art of skincare and the business of beauty. She has successfully managed one of LA’s most successful skincare practices, a med-spa, a corporate chain spa and the esthetics department within a prestigious plastic surgery practice. Leslie is the ultimate skin whisperer!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the diversity in Los Angeles and Orange County. What truly makes a skin care practitioner an expert is developing the knowledge and confidence to successfully treat skin from a diverse selection of clients with a multitude of skin concerns. I personally love the weather here and the sunshine. The hardest part about Southern California is that the sun makes everyone very susceptible to premature aging and sun damage. It’s very important for us to teach our clients how to safely live in this environment and how to properly protect themselves from the harmful rays of the sun.
