Hi Jo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Jo, CEO & Founder of The Social Party, a full-service social media agency for business owners and entrepreneurs.
In 2020, I turned my passion for social media and heart for my community into a thriving business when a pressing need to show up for local business owners presented itself during the COVID-19 pandemic. I rallied my creative friends and professional network together to establish The Social Party as an effective way to extend our services and support to business owners and entrepreneurs in our community when COVID-19 unexpectedly disrupted our “normal” way of doing life and business.
I am a first-generation Asian American and The Social Party is proudly female-founded.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been perfect. Entrepreneurs start companies because they are passionate about a service, product or cause; however, passion will only take you so far. The true test of grit and perseverance is in building the actual business structure for your passion to live in. That’s the tough stuff that doesn’t always make it to social media behind every entrepreneur’s journey.
I’m talking about setting up your business structure, finances, legal, marketing, HR, systems, operations, sales, services, client experience… and the list goes on and on. I felt so ill-equipped, unprepared and quite honestly… a fraud in this space. I knew how to maximize Social Media, but did I have what it takes to turn my knowledge for this craft into a profitable and sustainable business? That’s the question that often kept me up at night.
No one can ever really.. prepare you for all that building a business entails; however, it’s up to you to decide if you are willing to overcome the daunting learning curve that it will take to set up your business for success or let it overcome you.
They say, “if you can make it through your first year in business then you are cut out for the rest.” Whoever said that knew what they were talking about.
When I was ready to fold, I am grateful for my business coach who entered my life at just the right time to partner with me to turn things around and for my family and support system who carried me on to another day, week… and ultimately two years later where I am now able to impact dozens of business owners, operating with a team of 10+ and running this business that now generates multi 6 figures in revenue. I am pretty proud… not because of how quickly our agency has scaled in the past two years, but because I never allowed myself to give in and quit on myself and the vision of The Social Party.
My greatest learning lesson and advice from this? It’s ok to not know everything. When you don’t have the answer… will your pride allow you to remain stuck or will your humility allow you to find the right people and ask the right questions. Pro tip.. choose humility!

We are a full-service social media agency dedicated to providing services for business owners and entrepreneurs in order to show up and win in the digital space. Established during the 2020 global pandemic for business owners and pressing forward to day with business owners.
The Social Party team has partnered with notable founders and business owners in the Silicon Valley to reach milestone success for each of her clients despite the setback that the pandemic presented. Our clients have been featured on Forbes, Good Morning America, INC, Entrepreneur and more.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
YES! Our business was formed and established during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
What started us built us. Meaning… we launched out purely with the intention to show up and service business owners within our local community to bridge the gap that COVID-19 created when everything shut down and went online.
Social Media no longer was “nice to have”. Rather it became THE leading way to still show up and connect with your clients and customers in order to keep your business alive.
Our WHY has become our mission and our REASON to serve people is our heart and soul of our business, and truly the reason why our clients have stuck with us over these past 2 years. We are in it for the long haul when we say YES to our clients.
