Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Tabon of the beauty nest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Tabon.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for Beauty and art began in childhood—
watching my grandmother carefully craft dresses from her own patterns and admiring the way my mother
thoughtfully polished her nails and prepared herself with elegance for work. Beauty has always been
woven into my life, shaping the way I see and share it with others today. After High School I auditioned for The Laker Girls and made it at 18 years old, I was introduced to the entertain industry and love it. I went on to dance professionally for 15 years, doing film & TV, Broadway and local theatre. I also taught dance for 10 plus years. And while hair and makeup was always a part of my life, I pursued the business of it in 2013. With an entertainment background, and a passion for art I learned professional hair & makeup quickly. I worked hard, never quit. I love to when my clients faces beam with happiness after I’ve created a new look with them. It’s what this life is all about. Art equals happiness to me. In all forms. I hope to help the younger generation be successful in their own right. I thank my family especially my Mom & Dad who supported my dreams unconditionally from a young child.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ha! Smooth! I was a single Mom when I started doing hair. So juggling work, household and 3 kids was definitely a challenge. And then there was that time when there was a pandemic and Me and a partner of mine decided to build a new salon and business . It was such a stressful time. We were one of the last industries who were able to open. And the restrictions and rules to stay safe were changing constantly. We were able to follow all the rules, stay safe and keep our clients safe as well. I also dealt with that “imposter syndrome” which, I think in the long run pushed me to be competitive and get better at my craft each day. All of these obstacles although very challenging, were the weights I needed to build my confidence with a “never give up”spirit.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about the beauty nest?
We are” the beauty nest” salon in Rolling Hills Estates! We’re all about creating fresh, modern hairstyles and makeup looks that bring out our clients unique style. Our salon is a fun, caring space where the community comes together and every guest feels special. Most of all, we want them to LOVE the way they look when they walk out our doors!
My philosophy is simple: care for the person first, then create the perfect hair color and style to match who they are. I believe every look should be unique—designed to fit each individual’s lifestyle while enhancing their natural beauty. My goal is for every guest to leave not only looking their best, but also feeling moreconfident, radiant, and ready to walk a little taller.

What were you like growing up?
When I was little I was very quiet and always the smallest in class. But always in the front which I loved. Makes sense that I had talent in dance, so stage is where I felt most comfortable. I started dancing at the age of 10. Filipino folk dance, Hula, pop locking and breaking along with singing was our families summer pass time. High School Drill Team Captain and then trying out for “The Lakergirls” the summer I graduated High School and made the team! Still quiet but competitive. I’m also a Gemini (so you get a lot of personalities to choose from LOL! I was always curious and wondered how everyone knew so much about life. I love learning new things, especially about people, places and especially the arts.
