Community Highlights: Meet Jason Karp of KASI, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Karp.

Hi Jason, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I played a lot of sports as a kid, and two in particular — baseball and track — got me hooked on the science and beauty of elite athletic performance. I knew it would define my career and life. As a student, I settled on endurance performance, particularly running. I have since done many things in my career, oscillating between the fitness and running industry and academia, as a coach, personal trainer, writer, author, speaker, college professor, run coach certification course creator, business owner, and currently as founder and CEO of the running tech startup, KASI, a real-time run coaching audio app.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In some respects, it has been a smooth road, as I have been guided by my passion and curiosity; in other respects, not so much. My PhD was rocky!

We’ve been impressed with KASI, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
KASI is a smartphone and smartwatch application (available as RunKASI in the App store) that puts a sophisticated coach in runners’ ears, coaching them while they run. By leveraging real-time biometric data and AI coaching technology, KASI provides an immersive, personalized training experience that’s the closest thing to having a human coach. And if the runner already has a human coach who is far away, KASI revolutionizes remote coaching, enabling the coach to observe the athlete’s workout and coach him or her in real-time, even without being in person.

The name KASI is the Swahili word for “speed” or “pace,” and comes from my time living and coaching runners in Kenya. One of the characteristics of the Kenyan runners’ training is their control of the kasi, which is an important thing for runners to control to train optimally.

What’s next?
Looking forward to growing KASI and getting it into every runner’s hands and ears. And continuing to pursue my passion with writing more books, coaching, educating coaches and runners around the world, and remaining open to my entrepreneurial spirit and opportunities, including a trip to Italy in January/February 2026 to work for the U.S. Olympic Committee at the Winter Olympics.
