Today we’d like to introduce you to Janiece Lonvelin.
Hi Janiece, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our business began after my husband and I remodeled our own home in 2020, at the height of COVID—a time when every challenge felt twice as daunting. At that point, I was working as a fashion designer and had no plans to transition into interior design.
As we navigated our remodel, I discovered just how transformative thoughtful design could be—not only aesthetically, but in how it shaped daily life. I loved watching our home evolve and experiencing the comfort and joy of living in a space that was carefully curated for my family. It was in that moment that I realized I had found my true passion.
From there, I embarked on the journey of building my own interior design practice. I quickly learned that running a business required far more than talent or design expertise—it demanded strategy, foresight, and structure. I owe endless gratitude to my husband, who was instrumental in helping establish the foundation of our business from day one. Over the past four and a half years, this journey has been profoundly transformative. I’ve learned how to grow and market a business, plan ahead, and approach each project with intentionality—a personal and professional achievement that I’m incredibly proud of.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely had its share of bumps, curves, ups, and downs. Even with over a decade of experience in design—which was such a valuable transferable skill—I quickly realized there was so much more to learn: how to work with clients, set expectations, grow a business, and be intentional in every part of what I do. I had to figure out how to be more than just a designer.
For me, investing in education and coaching was key. Anything that helps you build the skills, confidence, or knowledge you need is worth it. I made a point to really understand where my strengths were and where I needed support, and then focused on those areas. That approach has made all the difference in growing my business and in shaping me as a designer and business owner.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our interior design business was born out of a deep passion to help others. After the experience and transformation of turning a house into our home, I knew I wanted to help other homeowners achieve that same sense of joy and happiness in their own spaces. There is nothing like living in a home you love—one you enjoy spending time in and creating memories with the people who matter most.
My goal is to help clients achieve their dream home while avoiding the many challenges that can arise during a remodel or new build. We do this by creating a clear roadmap for our clients and approaching each project with organization, clarity, communication, and a deep understanding of their vision. We guide them through all selections, and most importantly, provide visual references through 3D renderings, floor plans, and elevations giving them the confidence to move forward without the anxiety and uncertainty.
We are very hands-on. As a boutique firm, I work closely with each client and serve as their voice on the job site—advocating for their wants and needs, problem-solving, and navigating the many questions and details that arise. I collaborate closely with contractors, builders, and architects to bring each design to life, ensuring that every project reflects the client’s vision and lifestyle.
Creating a business in service of helping others achieve beauty, functionality, and comfort in their homes has been an incredibly meaningful journey. Every project is a chance to create spaces that not only look beautiful but feel personal, livable, and truly one-of-a-kind.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m actually pretty laid-back and love to keep things casual—I’m often laughing while on-site or cracking a joke during client meetings. Most people might not realize that, because they often see the polished side of my work. I just really enjoy being authentically myself and creating that kind of relaxed, welcoming environment throughout every project.
