Community Highlights: Meet Janet Bayramyan of Road to Wellness therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Bayramyan.

Hi Janet , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Janet Bayramyan, LCSW, was drawn to the mental health field through her own healing journey and a deep desire to help others feel seen, supported, and empowered. Growing up within the intersection of Russian, Armenian, and American cultures, she witnessed how unspoken trauma, generational pain, and emotional disconnection could impact families and communities. These early experiences sparked her passion for understanding human behavior and the power of compassionate, trauma-informed care. Her work today is rooted in the belief that healing is possible when people are given a safe space to explore their stories, reconnect with their strengths, and build meaningful, fulfilling lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s what makes the work so meaningful. Like many therapists, my interest in mental health started with my own challenges—navigating trauma, cultural expectations, and the complexity of finding my voice in environments that didn’t always make space for emotional expression. Becoming a therapist meant doing my own deep healing while learning how to hold space for others. The journey included moments of burnout, imposter syndrome, and the emotional weight of witnessing others’ pain. But those struggles shaped my approach: one that’s rooted in empathy, resilience, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to heal. Every setback has reinforced why I do this work and made me more grounded in my purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of Road to Wellness therapy . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Road to Wellness Therapy is a trauma-informed psychotherapy practice grounded in the belief that healing is not only possible, but a deeply personal journey that looks different for everyone. We specialize in helping individuals and couples heal from complex trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, depression, and life transitions—using evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. What sets us apart is our strong foundation in culturally responsive care and our ability to blend clinical expertise with compassion, curiosity, and creativity. Our clients often share that they feel genuinely seen and understood—something we take immense pride in.

At Road to Wellness, we’re known for creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for people to reconnect with themselves, process pain at a deeper level, and build lives rooted in clarity, intention, and self-trust. We’re especially proud of the way we tailor our work to each client’s nervous system, background, and story—rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Our brand is rooted in warmth, transparency, and empowerment, and we want readers to know that whether you’re navigating a crisis or simply seeking a deeper connection with yourself, you don’t have to do it alone. Healing doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be yours.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a deep feeler and observer—often more in tune with the emotional undercurrents in a room than the words being spoken. I was the kid who asked big questions, wrote in journals, and always wanted to understand why people acted the way they did. I felt things intensely and often carried the emotions of those around me, even when I didn’t have the language for it yet. I was also naturally curious and creative—drawn to music, storytelling, and anything that helped me make sense of the world and express myself.

Being raised in a culturally rich but emotionally complex household shaped a lot of my early experiences. I learned how to navigate between different cultural expectations while trying to stay connected to my own sense of identity. That duality—wanting to belong while also wanting to break patterns—played a big role in who I became, both personally and professionally. Looking back, it’s clear that the seeds for becoming a therapist were planted early: I wanted people to feel understood, to feel less alone, and to have the space to be fully themselves.
