Community Highlights: Meet Han Hoang of Aureum Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Han Hoang.

Hi Han, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I came to the US alone at 16 years old as an international student with the goal of becoming a plastic surgeon. I graduated college with dual degrees, Bachelor in Biochemistry and Master in Chemistry then went on to Georgetown University School of Medicine for my Doctor of Medicine. After medical school, I completed two separate residencies, first general surgery at NYU then plastic surgery at UCLA. To further expand my experience I went to Japan and Korea to train with Korean and Japanese plastic surgeons. After my travels, I returned to UCLA for Cranio facial fellowship focusing on facial reshaping for transgender and congenital defects. After training, I first started as an associate surgeon in a plastic surgery practice in Fountain Valley. But after many failed attempt of introducing advanced technologies into the practice, I set out to start my own practice. I started small sharing office with another physician while adding advanced technology and innovative technique to my practice. With a lot of support from my patients, I was able to expand my practice, moved to a bigger office and now providing comprehensive cosmetic treatments, both surgical and non surgical, wellness and regenerative medicine.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was never a smooth road. There were many challenges, failures, and financial struggles as a small business owner and as a surgeon, wife, mom. Each transition was a challenge. Not every investment yield profitable. But I had a lot of learning opportunities and I pivoted and adjusted.

As you know, we’re big fans of Aureum Aesthetics . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As a physician, I believe informed consent is one of the most important elements in practicing medicine and providing alternatives is a key part. However most plastic surgeons do not offer their patients true alternatives. It’s either surgery or nothing. On the other hand, medical aesthetics aka med spas as an industry has become more and more corporate. Majorities of medical spas are owned by investors not medical providers. And investors are only focusing on the bottom line and not the patients.
I want my practice to stand out as a physician led patient first. My goal is to provide a trusted space for my patients to be as well informed as possible to choose right treatments for their goals without sale pressure.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the different neighborhoods in LA and their unique vibes. Orange County does not have much of that. But I hate LA traffic and having plan my daily life around that.
