Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerrick Angel.
Hi Gerrick, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles — I often joke that I’m one of the four LA natives. I was a happy kid with a sister and a circle of friends who always seemed to turn to me for advice and guidance. Even at a young age, I had insights into things I probably shouldn’t have known. My parents used to tease me about my imaginary friends, but I now understand that I was always connected to angels and spirit guides.
People have always seen me as “smart,” but what I’ve come to realize is that information often just downloads for me — it’s less about logic and more about intuition. Today, I consider myself a Spiritual Counselor and Intuitive Living Coach. My core belief is that absolutely everything is Spiritual. So when I work with clients, I don’t focus on digging through childhood trauma. Instead, I help them identify the beliefs that are shaping the circumstances of their lives.
Most of my sessions are now done over Zoom. At one time, I thought I needed to be physically present — holding hands with clients as we prayed. But the pandemic shifted everything. I quickly adapted to offering counseling, facilitating groups, and teaching classes online. And let’s be honest — given LA’s traffic and parking challenges, this has turned out to be a blessing.
I’m an ordained Minister with credentials from both the United Church of Religious Science (now Centers for Spiritual Living) and the Agape International Spiritual Center. At Agape, I served for nearly 20 years directing the LGBTQ+ Ministry and co-founded the Adoption, Foster Care, and Fertility Ministry. I was also on the faculty of Agape University and served as a lead instructor in the Youth and Family Ministry.
One of the great joys of my work is officiating weddings and celebrating lives at memorials. Because I’m spiritual but not religious, I get to create unique, deeply personal ceremonies that truly reflect the individuals I’m honoring.
On a personal note, I’m currently in a wonderful long-distance relationship, which makes travel a regular part of my life. Thank goodness for mileage programs and credit card points!
Currently, I serve on the boards of two nonprofits that are deeply close to my heart. The first is CAST LA — the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking. Before joining CAST, I had no idea that slavery and trafficking were present in Los Angeles. Sadly, it’s a far more widespread issue than many realize. The second is Inspire Spiritual Community, where we are committed to creating a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Our message is simple but powerful: *Gay and God are not mutually exclusive.*
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The pandemic was a transformative period for me. As I mentioned, it expanded the way I connect with people — clients from across the country began reaching out. I also launched a YouTube channel where I continue to share uplifting messages and invite viewers to *Dream Bigger, Vibe Higher, and Watch it Happen.* My approach to spirituality is light, accessible, and fun — it shouldn’t require a big investment of time or money. I now also share short practices and inspirational content on Instagram and TikTok for people who just need a quick spiritual lift.
We’ve been impressed with Gerrick Angel, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I work as a Spiritual Counselor, Intuitive Living Coach, Minister, Speaker, and teacher.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The field of spiritual counseling and intuitive coaching is evolving rapidly—and in many ways, beautifully. People are waking up to the idea that healing and transformation don’t always require years of therapy or a traditional religious path. There’s a growing openness to inner work, energy work, mindfulness, and spiritual practices that are more fluid, intuitive, and personally meaningful.
One of the great advantages of being based in Los Angeles is that people here are generally very open to seeking professional guidance—whether it’s for personal growth, spiritual insight, or emotional clarity. As a result, I have the privilege of working with a wonderfully diverse range of clients. Word-of-mouth referrals have always played a big role in my practice, and with the support of my online presence, I now get to connect with people from all over the world. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how universal the desire is to live with more purpose, peace, and spiritual connection.
The shift to online sessions—something that accelerated during the pandemic—has actually expanded access in meaningful ways. People don’t have to navigate traffic or geography to get support. Zoom has become a powerful tool for spiritual connection, and it’s allowed me to work with clients, teach classes, and facilitate groups globally. It’s more efficient, and honestly, just as intimate.
Looking ahead, I think the demand for spiritual support will continue to grow—especially support that is inclusive, accessible, and rooted in authenticity rather than dogma. People are tired of being told who or what they need to be. They’re looking for spaces where they can remember who they *truly* are. And I feel honored to help hold that space.
