Community Highlights: Meet Ellie Rollins of Cabin Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Rollins.

Hi Ellie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a young person as an aspiring singer. I have had lots of twists and turns along the way. I have been married and raised three kids. Of course as a singer, I worked in hospitality most of my career.

Eight years ago I started my entrepreneurial journey. I opened my first thrift store. I took all the money I had my (rent money) and illegally moved into my store and showered at the beach every day. I was living in Hawaii and even my kids would join me. We would Oder pizza and sleep in the store and I would try to make it like a fun adventure for them.

I just took a huge leap of faith and counted on myself. My kids were incredibly supportive as was my staff and continue to be. 1 year later I had my second thrift store that evolved into a new and used store. I started selling sage and crystals and every used garnet was hand-picked by me.

Then I put in a bid to operate seven reuse centers for the county of Hawaii. Seven thrift stores whose purpose is divert reusable items from the islands landfill. 30 days later May 3rd, 2018 I opened Seven thrift stores and Kilauea erupted. I like to think my spirit is connected to the island volcanoes.

Then in 2019, I opened my first crystal store in Kona. It was very successful. Then I decided to open a second in Reno NV during the pandemic. I felt that people would want what I had to offer during challenging times. Then six months later I opened one in South Lake Tahoe. Then in 2021, I opened my fourth Crystal store in my dream town Santa Monica where I have always wanted to live. Wouldn’t you know it there is a patio that I turned into a music venue and an apartment above the store where I live. My life has come full circle back to music. Currently, I am writing an album with Chris Murphy and we are getting ready to start recording. We have Cabin Creek Concerts almost every week.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. My journey has been challenging full of heartbreak and risk and even some disappointment. The lessons I have learned have been priceless and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Cabin Creek is 4 retail that offers metaphysical supplies. Crystals, Jewelry, Sage, Insence and more. Cabin Creek is also a little bit of a community center we offer complimentary tea and seating areas to visit with friends sit with the positive vibes or meet with one of our Healing Practitioners. We also believe in the healing power of music and throw concerts weekly that feature local bands. In just a few weeks we are launching our online store which will be offering our own private line of candles, corral-infused oils, crystals mist, CBD tinctures and essential oils.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I feel my industry will be more mainstream and I hope to be a part of bringing the healing culture into the lives of as many people as possible.
