Diana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is the Diana Diaz and I am the founder of Deelux Florista & Events. In January 2021, I took the leap of faith and started my business. I decided to build my business around what I love the most: creating beautiful flower arrangements that bring joy to people’s lives. Deelux Florista & Events is a floral and event design company. Our biggest focus is creating bespoke designs, focusing on weddings and events. We take pride in bringing our customers vision to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being first generation and having no experience in starting a business was a huge challenge for me. Some of the struggles for me were setting up my business and getting clients. There’s a lot of resources out there that have helped me continue to grow my business. My biggest advice is get involved with other organizations that help you grow such as your local business chamber, or networking groups in your community. I am currently an ambassador for the Orange County Hispanic Chain of Commerce and a member for the Orange Chamber, Executives’ Association of Orange County, Woman’s Club of Orange, OC Biz, and other organizations in Orange County. Networking and making those meaningful connections has been a blessing for me because it has allowed me to make some amazing connections with other business owners/entrepreneurs.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Your network is your net worth! Get out there and make connections in your community. Networking has been such a blessing for me because it has allowed me to make some wonderful connections that has brought in business. Another advice don’t be afraid to invest in yourself or your business. You are your biggest investment. Things may seem expensive when going to a seminar or investing certain products or supplies for your business, but in the long term that investment will pay off. Lastly, I suggest you read! Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power. There have been times when I wanted to throw in the towel, but reading books has developed my mindset.
