Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Shurinov
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I started my company, I was freelancing and helping friends with small remodels. I just had a plan, love for design, and a willingness to take on whatever came my way. Slowly, those small projects turned into bigger opportunities. Now, we are growing and expanding our team. So it’s been a journey that took time, but at heart the focus was always on creating environments that are thoughtfully tailored to reflect our clients’ lifestyles, ensuring that every space feels distinctly like home.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges was learning to juggle so many things at once—designer, manager, business owner—all while staying true to the creative vision that inspired me in the first place. It was and still is overwhelming at times, but I’ve learned to embrace the process and trust that growth is just not easy.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Bureau Namas, we believe that designing a home is about more than just creating a physical space—it’s about shaping environments that enhance daily life and stand the test of time. Inspired by the idea of home as a sanctuary, we seamlessly blend comfort, beauty, and craftsmanship to create residences that feel both deeply personal and inherently timeless.
Though we are still in the early chapters of our journey, our firm has evolved from a boutique practice into a studio recognized for its thoughtful, high-end residential projects. What sets us apart is our ability to balance precision with intuition—combining historical sensitivity with contemporary sensibilities to create spaces that feel both rooted and relevant.
Each project, whether a modern barn clad in charred wood or a meticulously restored Cotswold home, is approached with curiosity and care. We don’t impose a style; we listen, interpret, and refine until the design feels inevitable—effortless yet intentional. Our commitment to craftsmanship, materiality, and the art of living ensures that every home we create is not just beautiful, but a true reflection of the people who inhabit it.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The best advice I can give is to stay open and curious. I never set out to find mentors in a formal way, but I learned so much just by paying attention to how others worked, how they handled challenges, and how they carried themselves in the industry. Some of the most valuable lessons came from people I collaborated with—sometimes in passing, sometimes over years.
Networking is the same way. The best connections happen naturally. It’s not about collecting contacts; it’s about sharing what excites you and listening to what excites others. The opportunities that matter most tend to come from the relationships you build without an agenda.
