Community Highlights: Meet Carina Flores of Lashhdripp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carina Flores

Hi Carina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I had attended CSUSB and graduated in 2018 with my BA in Business Administration. Even after I had graduated I didn’t know exactly what I wanted my career choice to be, but at the time I was really passionate about makeup and being involved in the beauty industry. I did some research and became interested in doing lash extensions so in Dec 2019 I took a lash course. I ended up loving it and became interested in pursuing it even further. When COVID hit in 2020, I did stop taking clients and practicing all together. At the time I did have a management position at a job I was miserable at, and I knew that I did not want to keep working at a job that I was simply not happy at. I ended up retaking a lash course to help refresh my technique, and enrolled myself into beauty school where I then pursued my esthetician license. I then graduated from beauty school in December 2021, and received my esthetician license in March 2022. Since then, I have had my own private suite. With my social media platform, I have had the privilege to work with some amazing lash brands as a brand ambassador. My next goal will be to eventually have my own storefront and my own product line. Looking back now, I’m so glad I did not stay at a job where I was miserable at, and pursued something I was passionate about. Being a business owner is so challenging, but once you begin seeing the results of all the hard work you put into it is so rewarding.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a bumpy road. At the beginning when I first started and covid had hit, I did get extremely unmotivated and took a break. I think another struggle would be self sabotaging myself by comparing where I’m currently at to where I want to be. Instead of me celebrating how far I’ve already come.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed esthetician that specializes in lash extensions. My suite is currently located in Downtown Redlands, at Redlands Ink and Lash. Although I specialize in lash extensions, I also offer other services such as lash lifts, brow lamination, and waxing services.
I would say what sets me apart from others is I’m a perfectionist. I do like to take my time to ensure quality results. I also like to make sure my space is a safe space for clients to feel welcomed and comfortable. For me, it’s more than just offering lash extensions, it’s about helping people feel confident and good about themselves.
