Community Highlights: Meet Bunnie Geer of Iron Goddess Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bunnie Geer.

Hi Bunnie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have worked in the motorcycle industry for 12 years. I have helped organized hundreds of motorcycle shows over the years. I saw that there was a lack of shows centered around the female motorcycle community. I brought up the idea to a few people and not much came from it so I sat on the idea for about three months. I was going through a marriage separation and struggling in my life and mental health and one night I couldn’t sleep. It was 3am and I was sitting in bed having really negative thoughts wondering how I could have gone so wrong with my decisions in life and the idea popped into my head again. In a span of 5 hours, I came up with the name Iron Goddess Motorcycle Show. I registered the name and business, I created social media accounts and a website and at exactly 8am I hit enter on my iPad and said to myself “well here I go, I have to do this now”.

Within 3 hours I had over 300 followers on Instagram and it’s just grown from there. Our show is scheduled for May 6th of this year. It will be an ALL-female motorcycle show. All spectators are welcome but only female-owned bikes will be on display. We have women coming in from all over the world for our show. I have met some beautiful souls along my journey. Women who I know I would never have had the pleasure of interacting with if I hadn’t pushed forward with my ideas. These women have shared some inspiring stories with me and I know now that everything happens for a reason…. I was beyond ecstatic that the show has taken off in a direction I had never imagined, but I knew that there had to be more… I knew that there was to be a reason that I had gone through all the difficulties in my marriage and I knew that something good had to come out of this besides a motorcycle show. So I decided to start the Iron Goddess Foundation.

IGF is a nonprofit foundation that will be helping women who have had the courage to leave abusive relationships start over. We will be assisting women with security deposits, first month’s rent, food assistance, counseling, etc. My motto since day one has always been “if I can help just one woman with my story then it was all for something”. A part of the proceeds from the Iron Goddess Motorcycle Show will be donated directly to the Iron Goddess Foundation.

I want every woman out there to know they are a Goddess, that they are strong and beautiful and they can accomplish everything they set their mind to. I want them to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel in every aspect of darkness. I am a big mental health advocate and I have been very open about my struggles in that area. This show literally saved my life. The stories others have shared with me keep me inspired and the women I have met along the way keep pushing me forward. I have gained new friends that I would have never met if it wasn’t for this show. I also want to make it clear that I could have never gotten this far if it wasn’t for every person that has jumped on board to support my dream and my vision. I am forever grateful for the people God has put in my life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has been anything but a smooth road. Even though there has been a lot of love and support there has also been a lot of struggles I have silently dealt with. There are days that I want to give up. That I wonder if I should have just stayed in my situation to keep the peace. If it was worth losing my marriage for good. There are days I can’t get out of bed, there are days I cry all day. There are days I have woken up to nasty messages filled with lies or twisted versions of the truth. In the end, I know that this is all for something. That I can help others who are struggling as well. That with my story people can see that if I can do it as a single mother of five children that they can do anything they set their minds to.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Iron Goddess Productions?
Along with owning my own business, I am the promotional director for Shark Squad Motorcycle Attorneys. We are a law firm that specializes in injured motorcycle riders. I have had the honor of working with Shark Squad for 4 years. I have learned so much related to the motorcycle industry with them. Not only do I get to ride motorcycles for a living but I get to help people along the way. There is no better reward in life than helping people. It hasn’t been easy juggling my own business and helping to run another but it’s worth it. Even though there has been some bumps in the road, they have been supportive along my journey and I can always count on them if I get stuck along the way with something. I don’t think I could have gotten this far with Iron Goddess Productions without the experience I have gained from Shark Squad along the way. The motorcycle community is very family oriented. We support each other and help each other. There is always someone there to guide you along the way.

Iron Goddess Motorcycle show is quickly growing beyond anything I could have ever imagined. We have been asked to host shows around the nation. And in our show, we are going to attempt to break the world record for largest female gathering of motorcycle riders in one location. MotoAdvisor from England holds the record at 1549 so we need 1550 to beat it, and to show how beautiful the female motorcycle community is, the women who hold the record in England have already booked flights to help us beat their own record!!! If that isn’t sisterhood I don’t know what is.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
You have to be open-minded. You have to be willing to listen to others and realize that this isn’t just about you. At least in my case, it isn’t. I am building something that can potentially help hundreds of women who are silently struggling in abusive relationships. I am building a brand that can help empower thousands of women around the nation. You can’t do this alone and there’s no way I could have gotten this far without the help of the women around me. You also have to have a thick skin. If I listed to every negative comment, every means text message, every lie told about me or every twisted version of the truth I would have given up multiple times. But I keep pushing because this isn’t just about me. This is about giving those who don’t have a voice a voice. This is about giving the female motorcycle community something that is long overdue for us.

You also have to be humble. I am so thankful for everyone who has stepped up and joined me in this venture. All the people, women and men. The men have been incredibly supportive, they are promoting the show almost as hard as the women are. This requires an army of people and each one of them is as important as I am in this adventure. I have never referred to this as MY show. When talking about the show I say OUR show, because that’s exactly what this is. A show everyone can feel a part of. A show that is going to make history. I want you all to know that I am eternally grateful for your love and support and for pushing me even when I’ve wanted to give up.
