Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanne Guevara.
Hi Breanne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started Lanni Ella during the pandemic as an online boutique. My mom and I started joining local pop-ups and selling our apparel at different events for about two years and in November 2021, we got a really amazing opportunity to open our own storefront. We started it with just our apparel and a couple of my mom’s clients also selling their own items from our shop. Eventually, we started to reach out to other small businesses we have met at pop-ups or at networking events and asked them to be a part of the shop and we keep growing because of all of these other entrepreneurs that have trusted us and joined our one stop shop. We now have more than apparel available in store such as candles, plants, jewelry, crystals, pet merch and so much more.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We started this business peak pandemic, so we have definitely had our struggles throughout our small business journey. We went from running an online based boutique to now having a storefront in two years and like all businesses we struggled at the beginning especially opening up the doors to our storefront during a slow season. However, we were able to start getting more attention to our storefront by hosting events once a month to promote our store and all our vendors and that has definitely helped us get more foot traffic.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lanni Ella Boutique started as an online boutique that offered apparel made in LA. My mom who has her production business started this business to basically start getting rid of all the extra fabric she had laying around and started to make unique pieces with this extra fabric. We then started going to pop-ups and showcasing all our apparel where we were able to meet so many other small business owners, after a year of pop-ups my mom and I were presented with the opportunity to expand our business into a storefront last December. We now have all our apparel in-store and also feature about 20+ local small businesses that vend right out of our store. Essentially a one stop shop, we wanted to include other small businesses in our store so they can have somewhere to sell their items all year round and not just at pop-ups or online. This gave more opportunities to all these local small businesses to have multiple places their items can be available at and it also gives all their customers an opportunity to see al their items in person.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is not just about accomplishing your goals but by also figuring out how to make a living doing something you enjoy. Getting paid to do something you love to me is more successful then working a high paying 9-5 job that I don’t enjoy.
