Community Highlights: Meet Anisha Sisodia of SnackTime

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anisha Sisodia

Hi Anisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I picked up my mom’s camera at age six, believing I could improve on her angles and framing of our family photos. From that moment on, I always had a camera by my side. As a first-generation American (Indian + Belgian), my parents were not down of my pursuit to go art school for college. Growing up with a neuroscientist father, choosing to become a psychology major was the accepted runner up.

Despite this “change” of path, my passion for photography persisted. After graduation, I jumped into freelancing, saying yes to any project. From taking photos of a salad for $25 or capturing NYFW backstage at 15+ shows for no money at all, I was learning. I invested what little money I had made into buying and building a studio in my McKibbin Lofts kitchen, and I released my work on social media without attachment.

For me, the visual space is more than a job; it’s a way to connect and create with others and understand my feelings at a specific moment in time. The ideas never seem to stop, and investing in my personal work has shaped my career in understanding my own point of view.

My journey in photography led to directing commercials. Now, I belong to an amazing agency supported by women, I’ve directed my first short film (and won a few awards!), and have launched my own creative studio, SnackTime.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been easy. One of my earliest challenges was proving to my family that I could succeed in this field. I had to choose to trust in myself and my determination over fear. I don’t think my family realized that their immigrant work ethic had passed down to me. With each risk I took, I always received signs that I was heading in the right direction. That kept me going.

Later struggles felt a bit more personal. First, imposter syndrome was huge for me the beginning of diving into the commercial space. I would be on set scared making decisions all of the time not fully understanding how such detailed and huge production teams worked. Continuing through the uncertainty did get easier with time. Second, I didn’t anticipate how connecting my passion to my job would also bring stress—like facing rejections or seeking validation. I find it difficult to separate myself from my work, as it feels like an extension of me. I remind myself that my work isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly okay. If anything, it pushes me to deepen and explore my craft.

As you know, we’re big fans of SnackTime. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My co founder, Marley Frank, and I launched SnackTime in 2023.

SnackTime is a creative consulting studio fusing the ancient art and modern strategy of storytelling for brands building the future.

At SnackTime, we believe that it is in our nature and a humanitarian right to connect to what nourishes us. In a world of overstimulation, unreal expectations and the ever evolving demands of change, SnackTime invites you to slow down and savor all of the good things that life has to offer. Even when it’s hard. Especially then.

We help our clients do this through an experiential consulting, design and production model that is driven by the science of storytelling and the power of PLAY. We think of our process like sitting down at the dinner table, sharing stories and strategies over a meal – where we feel the best ideas come to life. Together, we tap into what makes you and your brand truly unique; allowing us to leverage new levels of creativity, innovation and efficiency to tell your story in unrivaled ways. Our full suite of offerings includes leadership consulting, brand identity and strategy, design, art direction, campaign production (photography & video), and event production.

On December 7th, SnackTime is hosting a multi-media gallery titled “Composition”, a multimedia project exploring the beauty of food and its profound effects on women’s brain health. With the support of our partners and some of our favorite brands, our guests will enjoy curated bites and elixirs, a community workshop, panel and a cocktail hour video screening of the gallery. Tickets are available on our IG, @snack______time.

In all that we do, we seek to reclaim, reimagine and rearchitect our relationship to nourishment in the modern world.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My drive has been the cornerstone of my success. The determination to keep moving forward, even in the face of rejection, fuels me to work harder. I don’t allow comparison to hold me back because I know that everyone has something to say. Choosing a life driven by purpose rather than financial security is not easy, but the more I lean into the unknown, the more I receive. The moment I let fear overshadow my drive and vision is when I dim my light. This may not be the easiest or more secure path, but it has been the most rewarding.

Looking at where I was 10 years ago to now is my drive to keep going. I could have never dreamt this, and in so many ways, I feel I’m just at the start.
