Community Highlights: Meet Alexandra Robuste of Alexandra Robuste

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Robuste

Hi Alexandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From Berlin to Los Angeles, from strategy to scribbles, and from an idea to a movement—my story is all about connecting the dots.

I started in sales and marketing—because understanding people is the fastest way to understand business. But leadership? That was always my first love. I was fascinated by what makes teams thrive, what makes leaders stick, and why some people command a room effortlessly while others struggle to be heard. I have seen the transformative power of great leadership—and the costs of its absence.

And at some point, I realized: good leadership isn’t about authority—it’s about clarity, trust, and especially human connection.

So, after years of leading, coaching, and consulting, I knew it was time. I pulled together all my scribbles, frameworks, post-it notes, and aha! moments—everything I had learned, discovered, or even invented—and I created Gentle Leading. A needs-based approach to leadership that balances emotional regulation, empowerment, and strategic clarity. It’s not about controlling people—it’s about managing human connection.

And then, as I was shaping this system, one topic stood out—too big, too crucial to just squeeze into a book. Neurodivergence.

1 in 5 people is neurodivergent—ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and beyond. So, in a world where we still talk about “normal,” we have a problem. If one in five thinks differently, learns differently, leads differently… then isn’t diversity of thought the actual norm?

This matters now more than ever because DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) is under fire, and yet, organizations desperately need diverse thinkers to stay relevant and innovative.

So, my work isn’t just about leadership development—it’s about rethinking leadership for a future where no one is left behind.

That’s why my books and online programs help aspiring leaders and seasoned professionals alike. They’re designed to improve retention, boost satisfaction, and create work environments where everyone—yes, even the ‘outside-the-box’ thinkers—can thrive. Because leadership is about working with every brain in the room.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Leaving Berlin, I walked away from a great job, a solid career, and a life that, on paper, made perfect sense. I moved to the U.S.- pursuing one of my big five for life, first landing in San Diego, where everything seemed picture-perfect at first—sunshine, palm trees, and the feeling of a fresh start. But then, life had other plans.

For the first time in my life, I lost my job. I didn’t feel safe where I was, and piece by piece, everything I had built seemed to break away. I found myself in a situation where I had no clear roadmap, no safety net, and no idea what was happening or what to do next. It was unsettling, to say the least.

But if there’s one thing I’ve always had, it’s an unshakable intuition—like an internal compass that refuses to let me stay lost for long. Slowly but surely, I found my way back, trusting that this chapter was happening for me, not to me. While waiting for my work permit, I suddenly had something rare and valuable: time. Time to reflect, time to rebuild, and time to create something meaningful. I used it to bring together everything I had learned, scribbled, and discovered about leadership over the years. That’s how Gentle Leading was born—a leadership approach that’s not just about authority but about connection, emotional regulation, and truly seeing people. And this aligns perfectly with my purpose of business life: helping to bring more good leadership into the world.

It turns out, the moments that feel like everything is falling apart are sometimes the exact moments when everything is quietly coming together.

We’ve been impressed with Alexandra Robuste, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Where It All Started: Empowering Businesses to DIY Growth
I initially set out to help entrepreneurs and small businesses take control of their own success—offering tools and training in marketing, social media, remote sales, SEO, and more. The goal? Self-sufficiency. I wanted people to understand that with the right strategies, they didn’t need massive budgets or agencies to build visibility and grow.

Where It’s Going: Leadership & Startup Management
But along the way, something became clear—skills alone don’t build sustainable success. Leadership does. The best strategies won’t work without the right mindset, decision-making skills, and the ability to empower teams. So my focus evolved.

Now, I specialize more in leadership development, startup management, and business incubation—helping people not just build businesses but lead them effectively. My Gentle Leading methodology integrates emotional intelligence, decision-making and new feedback frameworks, and real-world strategy to develop leaders who inspire trust, autonomy, and performance—without micromanaging.

What Sets My Work Apart?
– No recycled leadership clichés—just practical, psychology-backed training that actually works.
– Designed for modern leaders. Whether you’re a founder, an aspiring leader, or an executive, the focus is on real-world application, not theoretical lectures.
– Holistic leadership development. Gentle Leading isn’t just about getting results—it’s about creating a leadership style that supports retention, team satisfaction, and sustainable success.

If believe we are ready to ditch micromanagement, and step into confident leadership, and build something that lasts. Great businesses don’t just need strategy, they need great leaders, too.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Walk the Talk. Trust the Process. Own your Path.

If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this: life rarely goes as planned, but sometimes that’s exactly what needs to happen.
I also learned to stop outsourcing my decisions to other people’s opinions. If you constantly seek validation, you’ll end up following someone else’s path instead of your own. If I didn’t ask for an opinion, I don’t need it.

And perhaps the biggest one—if you ever feel lost, your intuition is the best map you’ll ever have. The more you learn to reconnect with it, the clearer your next move becomes. Trust the process, take action, and let momentum do its thing.

After my relocation at first, it felt like everything was falling apart, but once the dust settled, I realized something huge: there was nothing left to lose—only trust to gain.

Instead of scrambling to rebuild what I had, I leaned into the uncertainty. And in that space, my intuition—strong as ever—led me to what I was really meant to do.

So, the biggest lesson?
– Don’t hold onto old plans just because they once made sense.
– Stop taking advice from people whose lives you wouldn’t trade places with.
– And when the path isn’t clear—I don’t run (right away 😉). I focus, reconnect until it is clear, and trust. And then I decide what to do next.

The best things happen not when we force them, but when we create space for them to unfold.
