Today we’d like to introduce you to A’kia She’kiba.
Hi A’kia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The HoneyQween Lemonade story begins in Leimert Park Village in 2016. Apart of the original food vendors who’d vend weekly for Drum Circle Sundays and monthly Art Walk Festivals. The delicious and refreshing taste quickly made a name for itself with it’s intriguing and uncommon flavor pairings, becoming an instant favorite in the community. HoneyQween Lemonade inevitably went from a hobby to a highly sought out brand blasting into the retail space becoming available in various stores around Los Angeles.
After expanding their iconic flavor trio and adding extra services, today HoneyQween Lemonade is sold exclusively online worldwide! Our next goal is to open our very own juice bar featuring cold press juices, smoothies, and of course our world-famous lemonade.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not been smooth but it’s been worth every moment. My biggest challenge is not getting any internal support. I’ve learned when others don’t see the vision they won’t support you, which is unfortunate. It’s not until you’re successful that you’re taken seriously and people may then support you.
Also, peer support, others who were further along who could have opened doors, shared information, shared resources, shared on social media, didn’t. If your peers see the greatness of your product and the potential success of your business, they may not offer help or anything to move you along. That has happened. Some people are just like that. However, with my hard work, focus, and dedication all the things I went to peers for, I eventually got on my own. Additionally, I learned that when you turn a hobby into a successful business with tangible results family and friends must bear witness to your accomplishment and it’s better than I told you so. So I see the challenges as having their own rewards. Also, not having a personal business mentor is very challenging.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in flavorful delicious lemonade. Our lemonade combines original taste with delicious superfoods sweetened with agave. It’s made like traditional lemonade but with a twist, like if lemonade had a bougie cousin named Honey, Ms. Honey. Our flavors are completely original. Our ingredients are very basic. We cater to those who go after the very best of everything. This would be it. The Rolls-Royce of lemonade.com.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You must have a sense of stability and functionality in your personal life in order for your business to be successful. If not, your personal life will ruin your business. Don’t expect others to share your passion, it’s your vision not theirs.
