Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Rosario aka 700x.
Hi Peter, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
With creativity and art, I started off as a kid drawing pictures and sometimes taking photos with a small film camera. As I grew older, in high school I would start painting pictures, mostly landscapes and designs that I was inspired by. At that time, I thought I’d pursue drawing and painting for the rest of my life and at that time, I would turn down the idea of photography since I felt it “wasn’t my thing”. So in college, my major was fine arts where I would fully spend most of my time painting and drawing designs, landscapes, people, etc. and in college I would also be a part of student government, which I would help make videos for their events and projects since I had a small point and shoot camera to vlog on YouTube. After four years of college, I then started enjoying the art of videography and went deep into capturing moments well beyond college.
One year after I graduated, I then had an internship being the media manager for an art group where I would also sell my paintings thinking being a painter was what I fully wanted. But I was also asked if I could take photos for the events and art shows for them since I mentioned that I took videos for college and I said yes. So I bought a professional camera for the first time. I then took it out to the city to take photos around to test out the camera and instantly fell in love with the art of photography. I eventually would go outside and take photos for the fun of it in my spare time. One day I saw a post for a hair salon showcase with a model and decided to contact her on Instagram asking her if she wanted to take photos there and she said yes. So I went to her hair salon and did my 1st photoshoot which sparked an interest in shooting with models. I then would attend Instagram meetups, contact my friends who wanted photos of themselves or wanted to try modeling.
Posting my new work on Instagram, which eventually led to models who I never met contacting me for me to shoot with them because they liked my work. Po for two years id shoot with models, events and projects and photography became my passion. I then one day met a music artist Gerald Walker, who I would do consistent photoshoots with and eventually he asked me to shoot a video with him at quad studios which is a well know studio that many big named artist have recorded music there. And in the studio, I met a person named Fabrizio and kept in contact. And he eventually asked me to shoot for his music label secret Hit and through him I’d shoot with all type of music artist, from celebrities’, well-known singers, rappers, and many from the Latin community, and I now continue to progress as a photographer, and has gained a lot of confidence in my abilities to reach as far as I put my mind to it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of my personal struggles were depression, anxiety, having mild autism, lack of self-confidence. In having depression, I would lack motivation at times to keep moving forward in some days, which has made it difficult to get work done on some days or feel as I could push through. But I learned to pace myself and surrounded myself with motivated friends who would inspire me to keep moving and game me purpose to keep trying in life. In having anxiety, I would be abrade to take chances or try new things but I learned to face my fears by taking a leap despite the way I felt. My having mild autism made it difficult to connect with new friends and even network with others. But eventually with time, I made the effort to network with my work more than my words and communication skills. Lacking self-confidence would keep me from feeling like I could pursue success, but one day I had a friend who simply told me “you got this peter, you can do it” which at the time meant a lot and changed the rest of myself because that one friend believed I could and would always encourage me until I was able to find my own confidence after seeing how much I was able to accomplish
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer and videographer. I have done photographer since 2015 shooting with all kinds of models from different walks of life. I have also worked with many different music artists shooting their recording sessions, concerts, or projects for the past two years. What I’m most proud of is that although I have started shooting with many people, brands, companies of higher levels of success, fame, and status. I am still willing to go back and shoot and create with people who are just starting off or are still trying to figure out their pathway to success. I’m proud of the fact that I could still look at every human the same no matter who they are. I am known best for my photography work and also visually from my hair which I’ve grown for the past seven years.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think risk-taking is the best way to change a person’s life situation because taking a risk means that a person is stepping out of their comfort zone and doing something that is uncertain. They are stepping into new grounds of what they’re used to and doing what most people fail to do making them stronger, more valuable, and also gives the person a better understanding of the world or field they’re in. Even if taking a risk leads to failure, it will become a valuable lesson for them and will give them courage to take even greater risks.
