Today we’d like to introduce you to Zeinab Ghais.
Zeinab, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my design business in South Texas over twenty years ago and within that timeframe, I eventually migrated to Sacramento, California. After leaving a corporate job, I decided to go back into landscape and interior design. I slowly began to build my clientele and even started doing jobs in the Bay Area. Eventually, I moved to San Francisco and took my business with me. In 2008, I moved to Los Angeles and continued building my brand and my business. Thanks to Smith & Noble, I was able to get my name out there to the entire county. I began working all over LA and even found myself flying back to Texas to do more design jobs. Since we live in a digital world, I have been able to work with clients anywhere. I continue to work from coast to coast with my new and existing clients. Whether through E-Design or in-person, my clients get my full attention to detail.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has had some turns and bumps along the way. That is what has made me stronger, more confident and allowed me to keep going. Every time I moved, it was like starting all over again. Building your name, reputation and more. Luckily my work ethic and attitude kept my head above water during tough times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Many years ago, I branded myself as a “Lifestyle Designer”. My goal is to design a better space for you to thrive. Your dwelling is an extension of you and we must honor that. My job is to merge the home with the dweller. I help my clients on many levels, whether it is through interior/landscape design, painted finishes, murals and fine art. I take time to make your home an extension of you.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would say that I am a risk taker. I like to take my clients out of their comfort zone and get them to see how things could look different if they are willing to try. For example, one of my clients needed a new countertop for a very small bar area in her living room. Instead of going for a neutral tone, we went for a precious gemstone since it was a small area. Now it is a focal point instead of looking basic.
