Check Out Youstee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Youstee.

Hi Youstee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been surrounded by music since I was a kid. Growing up, my family has always expressed a deep love for music, dancing, photography, you name it. My deep love for the arts were ignited when I attended my first live concert at only five years old. Throughout my childhood, I was constantly immersed in this world— rehearsing steps with my mother for various productions and performances that she choreographed., my dads Michael Jackson CDs on constant rotation in the car and my brother serenading the house daily on the piano. This environment nurtured my passion for performing, singing, dancing, and overall creating.

As I entered my teenage years, I began to take my craft much more seriously, delving into fully writing and producing my tracks and attending numerous studio sessions with some very talented individuals. I recall the insane inspiration I’d receive from these sessions and the excitement to work on new material to share with my studio team. At 19, I decided to take my future into my own hands and moved across the world with little money and a whole lot of ambition. Since then, I’ve completely immersed myself in countless creative projects, releasing many singles and music videos, and working tirelessly to bring my artistic vision to life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been, and continues to be, encumbered with artistic frustrations due to the constant drive to improve and refine my craft. Due to my desire for beautiful work, I often find myself overthinking even the smallest details. Though this can occasionally contribute positively to the music. Financial ups and downs have been a challenge as well, as well as dealing with people I trusted who unexpectedly disappeared from my life. I’ve experienced the loss of friendships and struggled with having little personal and social time, all while trying to balance the pressure to continually push myself further.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an enthusiastic artistic creator who believes in the unique purpose of every individual in humankind. My purpose happens to be creating waves in one’s mind and heart. My work involves creating immersive worlds that bring my vision to life, incorporating every element from production and lyrics to visuals and the stage arrangements. I treat music as both a playground and a battleground. I like breaking well-known boundaries and combining production elements from any genre to come up with entirely new ones.

I’m particularly proud, and many other musicians that I’ve worked with have appreciated, my ability to hear a sound and immediately know if it fits in the song that we’re working on without it being played. The same applies to vocal melodies and lyrics. I hear and envision an entire auditory body of work, the finished and polished product, just by listening to one simple note or rhythm.

My recent work involves my recent music video which tells a poignant story. In it, a girl finds me heartbroken and lost in the bustling streets of downtown LA. She takes me home, offers solace, and helps heal my shattered heart. Through tender moments, she teaches me how to love again, leaving me with a profound new perspective on love. What sets me apart is my commitment to blending a strong work ethic with my creative pursuits and artistic vision. I’m an artist who is deeply in love with and obsessed with every detail of my work. Balancing these elements and focusing on continual growth and innovation is central to my approach. This is just the beginning of the first era of Youstee.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that every significant step toward achieving something meaningful involves a degree of risk. Personally, I’ve always embraced taking risks in my life, even in my earlier days. One of the biggest risks I took was moving across the world (LA) to live on my own, far from the place where I was born (Romania). I left behind the security of home for the opportunity to achieve my goals and reach my full potential. This leap was essential for my personal and professional growth.

In terms of creativity, I feel that the greatest art often emerges from taking risks. Pushing boundaries and stepping outside of comfort zones are crucial for innovation and artistic expression. Risk-taking is not just about making bold decisions; it’s about trusting in the process, thinking outside of the box and being open to the transformative experiences that come with it.
