Check Out Vince Remo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vince Remo.

Hi Vince , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started off as an Illustrator when I was a little kid. Then my Dad introduced me to Film Photography. He had all the dark room equipment and taught me all the techniques with the SLR camera. Since film photography was so expensive I decided to quit the hobby but at the same time got into music and songwriting. My brother and I started a Metal Band where I played drums. While we composed and played music, I was also making short movies with my friends using a VHS camcorder. I remember being really excited while doing this with my friends. I didn’t have an editing machine but instead I would shoot and edit on the fly with the camera.
During this time computers, specifically MACs, were in its infancy stage and was evolving rapidly. I was excited about the idea of digital photography and video production. As computers evolved during the 90s, I was experimenting a lot with non linear video editing but computers were slow. I got back into Photography after buying my first Digital camera back in early 2000s. While this was all going on, I was also trying to master my skills in drawing. And with MACs becoming cheaper, I bought one and honed in my skills in animation, digital photography, video production and illustration.
By 2012 I got my first job as the Lead Videographer and Photographer for Fremont College. I was in charge of producing promotional and event videos for the students and staff.
Then I landed a job with Meguiar’s Auto Care as the lead Videographer and Photographer in 2017. in 2020, I became an Animation Director for Unifun Inc. I was in charge of producing animated shorts with my team of writers, illustrators, animators and voice over actors.
While working for these companies I started my own company called San Remo Productions. I produced everything from animated music videos, event videos and commercials.
But my true passion is film making. Around 2012 is when I started nurturing my skill in screen writing. It was a major hurdle for me and I needed to slay it if wanted to get into film making. In 2013 I produced a movie called Apartment 13. It is a 50 minute proof of concept movie where I unknowingly produced a feature length film. It was my first film and I busted in with guns blazing and not knowing anything about film making and hiring actors. But the concept worked and the full length script is waiting to be produced when the time is right.
As my company grew by landing several paid projects, I was experimenting with narrative film making and storytelling. I was coming up with so many ideas and concepts for film making and got into the habit of writing them down. Then I would turn them into script format. Next thing I knew I was making short movies and hiring actors.
In 2023 I wrote “Algorithm” and shot it in my apartment in Huntington Beach. I was not happy with the results and I needed a polished movie that looked professional and cinematic. So I decided to bite the bullet and invested some money into hiring professional crew members and actors and renamed “Algorithm” to “insentient” and released it under my new production company “We Will Win Films”. It is named after my name Vinceremo which in Italian means We will Win.
I am currently finishing up the 120 page version of Insentient and I just finished a 20 page, proof of concept short script called “Exodus”.
By the end of this year, I will have 3 feature length scripts written, Allmighty, Apartment 13 and Insentient with more on the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many but the one hurdle I had was reading and writing. I wasn’t illiterate rather I was just lazy and hated reading. So I had to reprogram my brain. Now I love writing and reading. Although I should get into reading books. I have really bad ADHD and would, a lot of times drift away while reading. My attention span and temper was also a major hurdle. I have managed to contain all of that before producing “Insentient”.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have 2 companies San Remo Productions, a production company that specialize in producing event videos and photography, animated videos and commercials.
I recently just started a new company called We Will Win Films. A Production company for narrative film making.
My proudest yet is producing “Insentient” my proof of concept short film.
What sets me apart from others is I want to entertain the viewer and not act like a film maker. I want to ensure that the viewer is moved by my stories.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love to spend a lot of time in solitude. Just me and my Macbook Pro with Final Draft and Adobe Suite. At this stage I am dedicating myself to producing any concept and ideas that pops up in my head.
