Today we’d like to introduce you to Valentine Anger.
Hi Valentine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My story has a lot of twists and turns, let me tell you! Sometimes, it’s best to start where we are and go backwards…
Currently, I’m part of a management team at a dispensary in Cathedral City, California.
As with most careers, it’s a long list of “nos” before you ever get a yes, and finally, after moving to Palm Springs, I got a “yes.”
Before Palm Springs and before the pandemic, my husband and I were in Los Angeles. I was a career Drag Artist producing 3 different nightlife events and a plethora of other creative affairs. In Los Angeles, it was nothing but “no’s” trying to get my foot in the door of the cannabis industry.
Skip to the later end of the pandemic.
My husband and I decide to move to Palm Springs. I find myself doing a few odd jobs here and there, all the while click-clacking my heels through Palm Springs.
Shortly after moving to Palm Springs, A dispensary takes a chance on me, and boom, I’m working in the cannabis industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been smooth. The dispensary that hired me had their own challenges and closed its doors. I then found myself working as a brand ambassador for several cannabis brands. A bit of a whirlwind, but it allowed me to really sink into the industry. Which, over that time, has allowed the dispo that first hired me to reopen its doors and bring me back. Full circle it seems.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For my day job I’m a manager, not really too much exciting about that.
What I really enjoy about my job is being able to take my day job and my passion for drag and make them one!
Valentine Anger is the Cannabis Queen of Palm Springs. There is not a lot of LGBTQ representation in the cannabis industry, and I plan on changing that!
I’ve collaborated with a few brands to create cannabis-centered queer events here in the Coachella Valley.
Boyz N’ Bongz was a drag show I produced for about a year in A dispensary with a consumption lounge.
Drag Dabz is a fun little event where I partner with Concentrate (dabs, wax, sauce, etc.) brands and sample products out to customers.
I’ve also started a miniseries called “Higher Education with Valentine Anger,” where I give short videos about cannabis information. Only a few currently made, with more on the way.
If you’re curious about my Los Angeles drag doings, please be sure to check out Haus of ATM and Oblivion Fridays LA
You can also find me on two Transformations with James St James on WOw
What are your plans for the future?
For the future, I plan to continue to create queer cannabis content. I hope that I am able to collaborate with more brands and more events. Kushella, Hall of Flowers, Famers Cup, ECT… All events that I’d love to get more involved with.
