Check Out Tre’Von Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tre’Von Taylor.

Hi Tre’Von, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Being raised in South Central, the best way to cope with the world around me was to utilize the arts. My family was always filled with creative people and since I was surrounded by it I knew I would soon find what made me tick and it came in the form of photo and video. I started taking photography and videography seriously around my first year of college where I would document my friend’s events and even make vlogs of places I’ve seen. The more I did it the more I realized it was all I ever wanted to do. Ever since, I’ve been doing everything in my power to hold onto that dream with every step I take by putting myself out there. Since then I’ve partnered with companies via internships, helped run social medias, and have done passion projects in my time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to where I’m at now has been anything but smooth with challenges and blessings along the way. In the years since I’ve started I’ve struggled with funding my equipment for my work, balancing being a full time student with my craft, and my now personal mental struggles that I have to manage with everyday. Through it all though I’ve been happy to say I have a beautiful support system that has been able to hold me up and encourage me through the good days and when I’m at my worst.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Photographer and Videographer based in South Central LA and I specialize in telling Stories and conveying emotions through my work to the audience. I’m most proud of my editorial work such as my “American Retrograde” project. What sets me apart from others is my understanding that art is rebellion and creativity is a weapon that should be used anywhere and at all times. I use this thought process in all of my more thought provoking work which makes what I do less of a business and more of a call to action.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For those that are just starting out the only advice I have is to do everything in your power to put yourself out there. When I was beginning in my field, I use to deny myself opportunity thinking I wasn’t ready or good enough. After more experience now I know the best way to get better is to throw your hat in the ring at anything that catches your eye to find out what kind of work you want to make in the long run.
