Today we’d like to introduce you to Trent Stevens.
Hi Trent, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At Jasper & Oak, I tell love stories through film and photography. I specialize in weddings—those once-in-a-lifetime days filled with emotion, chaos, beauty, and moments you never want to forget. My work blends candid storytelling with a cinematic style. I’m not just capturing what happened—I’m capturing what it felt like.
What sets me apart is how deeply I care. I’m not showing up with a shot list and a stopwatch. I want to know who you are, what your relationship means, and what moments matter most to you. I’ll probably tear up during your vows and be dancing behind the camera during your reception. I’m in it with you, every step of the way.
I’m most proud of the trust people place in me to tell their stories. And not just couples—I’ve built a small, passionate team that shares the same level of care and creativity. We’re not just documenting weddings; we’re creating something meant to last for generations.
We’ve been lucky to be recognized along the way—like being featured on the cover of Edible Weddings Central Coast and being named California Wedding Day’s Best Videographer for 2025. But for me, it always comes back to the couples. The texts I get months or even years later from people saying they rewatched their film and cried all over again—that’s what this is all about.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest part for me has been navigating where art meets business. As a creative, I started this journey focused on storytelling. I was capturing moments in the most meaningful and cinematic way possible. But running a company like Jasper & Oak means wearing a lot of hats. I’m not just the videographer or photographer—I’m also the marketer, the editor, the client manager, the logistics coordinator, and the team leader.
Learning how to price my work fairly, communicate with clients clearly, manage timelines, and still leave space for creativity has been a major balancing act. There were seasons early on when I over-delivered and undercharged, or felt stretched thin trying to do everything myself. Building a team helped, but even that came with its own challenges—learning how to lead well, trust others with my creative vision, and delegate while keeping our standards high.
Ultimately, the journey has made me a better artist and business owner. I’ve learned how to protect the heart of my craft while growing something sustainable, and that’s a lesson I’m still evolving through every season.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to work with me is to reach out through my website, jasper-oak.com, or email me at [email protected]. Whether you’re planning a wedding, interested in collaborating creatively, or just want to connect—I’m always open to conversations that center around storytelling and intention.
If you’re a couple, I’d love to hear more about your vision and how we can bring it to life in a way that feels personal and lasting. And if you’re a fellow vendor—planner, photographer, florist, DJ, anyone—I truly value the creative community this industry brings. Some of my best work has come from genuine collaboration, and I’m so appreciative of the vendors who go above and beyond. They’re honestly my biggest resource and inspiration. This job is a team effort, and I’m proud to work alongside so many talented people who deeply care about the couples we serve.
If you’ve supported my work in any way—shared a post, passed along my name, tagged @jasper.oak—thank you. That kind of word-of-mouth and community support is what keeps small businesses like mine thriving.
