Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia.
Hi Tia , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my journey in my hometown of Chicago, where music became my first language and a way to understand the world around me. Over time, I explored different creative paths through poetry and theater, but songwriting always remained the most authentic way for me to express what I feel.
Living in Chicago, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, and now Barcelona has shaped not only my sound but also my perspective of the world, cultures, people, experiences and emotions. Each place left a mark on me! The rhythm of the streets, exposure to the local music scenes and the sense of reinvention (and personal development) that comes with each place.
Today, I create music that blends altpop with subconcious influences, often exploring transformation, connection, and resilience. I perform across Europe and the US and collaborate with artists, producers, and visual storytellers who share the belief that music can bring people together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been maintaining consistency: writing, performing, and keeping that creative muscle active. I’ve learned that sometimes I need to step away completely to let inspiration return naturally, rather than forcing it. Those breaks often bring me back to music with more honesty and clarity.
Being an independent artist means wearing every hat — creator, producer, marketer, and manager — and that can be exhausting. The financial side is also a constant challenge. Equipment, production, and content creation all add up, so I’ve had to be very intentional with my time, energy, and resources.
Over the years, I’ve learned to protect my peace and recognize when something doesn’t feel aligned. Instead of catastrophizing during quiet periods, I’ve learned to trust them and to see them as part of the process rather than a failure.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What defines my work most is honesty.. in my lyrics, in my voice, and in the way songs seem to arrive exactly when they’re meant to. Sometimes they even come to me in dreams, and I’ll wake up in the middle of the night to record a melody or lyric line before it disappears. That subconscious connection feels like the truest part of my creative processm, a dialogue between something bigger than me and the life I’m living.
Right now, I’m preparing to release a new collection of four tracks that feel like my most honest work yet. They’re raw, intimate, and capture the journey I’ve been on over the last few years both personally and artistically.
On stage, I love creating moments of connection. Performing live is both grounding and transcendent; I find a meditative flow where I can feel my own healing and happiness through the music, while also holding space for the audience to experience theirs.
What sets me apart is that I don’t try to control the art once it’s born. Once I release a song, it no longer belongs just to me. It belongs to everyone who finds a piece of themselves in it. That shared humanity is what keeps me creating.
How do you think about happiness?
That’s such a beautiful question and honestly, I don’t think happiness ever comes from just one thing. For me, it’s found in the small, human moments that remind me we’re all connected. A quick exchange with a stranger on the street, a shared smile and eye contact during a show when I can see a lyric land deeply with someone, or a real, grounding hug from a friend or family member when one of us needs it most.
Those moments make me pause and feel fully alive, they remind me that happiness isn’t something to chase, it’s something we meet in the present, often when we least expect it.
