Check Out Thornell Hogue’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thornell Hogue.

Hi Thornell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always told myself growing up that I wanted to be my own boss one day and as a young adult, it sounds simple enough right? Well as I grew older finding my thing became more difficult than I ever expected. I’d see many people around building brands and businesses from scratch and get frustrated with myself because I felt like it was taking me too long for me to begin something of my own. After having a chat with a coworker at my full-time job one day during covid, he talked with me about his multiple streams of income and the different businesses he ran outside of work and a photo booth business was one of the many. To me, it was one that stood out the most mainly because I know a lot of people who host or throw a lot of events and who doesn’t want photos of themselves at an event right? So I began doing research, worked a ton of overtime & boom the idea of Unforgettable Images was now in play.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? Absolutely not! Formulating the idea and actually getting started was a struggle in itself! Once I had a plan in place for what I wanted to do now, I needed money to fund this plan, in midst of planning a 30 birthday party, I thought of every way possible to put the necessary funds together to get started asap just knowing that once I did I’d began making the money back in no time. Sure we’ve all heard the saying “you’ve got to spend money to make money” right well for me that looked like working a ton of overtime which meant time away from family amongst other things I’d rather be doing with my time but a sacrifice nonetheless for the better. Starting off new you’ve got to build your brand, get your name out so that people even know you’re offering a product or service and then actually getting them to pay for it my first month of business I had 9 bookings, second month I had one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of my photo booth company, I work full-time with developmentally disabled individuals in a group home setting. I’ve been in this current position for the past 6.5 years but I’ve worked in the field for about 10+. I feel like I’m a people person in a sense like people naturally gravitate to me I can easily have a conversation with someone I’ve never met and talk to them like we’ve known each other forever. Beginning my business Unforgettable Images has been one of my biggest accomplishments that I’m most proud of, it took me so long to find something I enjoy and I could make my own thing that once I started, I had all the faith in the world that it could be big and still very much do. I’m always looking for ways to make myself and my brand stand out and I’m willing to put in that extra work, go that extra mile to do whatever and ensure that people know that I gave everything I could for an exceptional experience.

How do you think about happiness?
Family. I’m really big on family, being together with your loved ones just embracing each other and knowing that through whatever these people have your back like you have theirs is just such a beautiful thing to me.
