Check Out Tamara Jokic’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Jokic.

Hi Tamara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from Serbia, a small European country with a lot of traditions. However, I also spent significant time in Spain and Portugal and lived in the United States for several years. I would say that my main point of reference, both in my life and in my art, is the multicultural and diverse aspect of all the influences gathered. From the Middle East, Eastern Europe, through the Western part of Europe and the United States, with a pinch of influences from North Africa, I have gathered many lovely stories and memories.

And… I just released a new song, it is called SOLO UNA NOCHE and it is available on all streaming services!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course it has not, an international career in anything, especially arts is a tumultuous road, but it has had its glorious moments, as well as some less glorious ones. There were many struggles along the way, immigration being the biggest part, alongside financial hurdles. Also, being a woman in the music industry is tough, guys. TOUGHHH.
But it feels good to say and to be aware that I had a wonderful support system, amazing friends, colleagues and family.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer, songwriter and an educator. I specialize in World Music and multilingual singing, as well as teaching various singing styles. I sing in 10 different languages and speak four fluently. Love my job!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The biggest lesson: believe in yourself because if you do not, no one else will. The second biggest lesson: it’s okay to change course from time to time.
