Check Out Shaylee Eldridge’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaylee Eldridge.

Shaylee Eldridge

Hi Shaylee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After graduating college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in nutrition, I decided I wanted to fall into my mom’s footsteps and do hair. I attended Paul Mitchell the School and landed my dream assisting job for Nikki Lee & Riawna Capri while they were working at the Ken Paves Salon. A year later they opened their own salon, Nine Zero One, and i got to be part of this special salon family for over 11 years. Nine Zero One grew to be one of LA’s hottest salons and still is. In 2020, i got pregnant and decided I could no longer make the commute to West Hollywood from where I lived in Hermosa Beach. I decided to open my own salon suite in Hermosa Beach and I’ve been lucky enough to have most of my clients follow me and continue to grow and gain new clients in the South Bay.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a fairly smooth road minus leaving Nine Zero One and the family I had created there. It was so special to be part of something from day 1 so it was hard to step away after 11 years. It was really important me to keep the luxury experience my clients were getting at Nine Zero One, and creating that same experience in my private suite at the beach.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hairstylist who’s been in the industry now for 15 years. I got all of my experience and training from one of the top salons in LA, Nine Zero One. I worked and assisted on many celebrities, red carpet events, television, but my main passion has always been behind the chair in the salon. I specialize in lived in color, blondes, balayage, dimensional brunettes, you name it. I love cutting especially long layers and lobs. I also specialize in Great Length Hair Extensions which i trained under the industry’s best, Nikki Lee & Riawna Capri. I’m most proud of my long lasting relationships with my clients who would follow me anywhere. It confirms I’m doing something right and that’s keeping them happy with their hair goals. What sets me apart is bringing the luxury experience of Beverly Hills to the beach. The little touches iI’ve added make all the difference.; from a massaging shampoo bowl to champagne and margs while getting your hair done.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
It is important to find a mentor whose work you admire. That way you are learning all the skills for the type of hair you want to do once you are on the floor. Also finding a mentor who allows you to work closely with them on every client that way you can learn the whole client process from start to finish. This includes consultation to finishing products at the end of the service.
