Check Out Shamair Clarke’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamair Clarke.

Hi Shamair, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got introduced to the creative side of music at 11 years old. My dad is an artist and he would take me to the studio and to shows with him. I recorded my first song at 11 years old. I fell in love with it. Between the ages of 11 and 15, I didn’t pay much attention to creating my own music. It was more of an observer thing for me at that point. Ages after 15 would see me writing more lyrics and singing a lot more. I moved from someone who barely write anything to an artist who wrote three songs per day. Upon graduating high school in 2020, I decided music is what I’m going to do. In the height of the pandemic, I decided to leave formal education for something a lot less safe. A lot has happened since then but all that happened has fueled me to be greater. Now I produced, recorded and mix my own work. I have my own operation going that keeps my music running. It’s a lot more than what I thought it was when I first started but I have to say I am happy and grateful to be where I am; I eagerly look forward to the future and pushing my art a lot further

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been and I think no road ever has been. The moment one decides what kind of life they want to live there comes many moments along that journey. Those moments are both good and bad. Both vital to our progression.

The first struggle I was faced with was getting beats to write to. I didn’t anyone who made beats. My solution at the time was YouTube; I found plenty and wrote even plenty more songs them. I then learnt you could not claim these songs as your own unless you have the money to pay for it. At 16 years old, I had $0. I then learnt to build my own on a laptop my dad bought me.

My second big struggle was recording. My dad built his own studio which I had all excess to. However, the engineer was hardly ever at the studio so I hardly ever recorded. I had to learn and that I did.

My third was mixing and mastering. At this point, I had connections to people who could do everything production related to my work but what I still didn’t have was the money. At least not enough to pay every time I need my work done. What I did to sold that issue was to learn it myself.

Now all production work done for me is done in-house however I do still outsource.

The big struggle I am faced with now is marketing and promotion. Just like the previous obstacles, I will learn them and overcome.

I will be unstoppable even when everyone knows my name

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I sing, write, compose, record, mix and mastering. I do graphics work. I specialize in singing, writing, composing and recording. Most know me for my singing and writing skills.

The unique thing about Nascent’s art is that it mimics no still it mimics no trend. Every aspect of the style comes from his heart. The topics he chooses are topics not common in your average artist’s catalogue. Nascent music speaks of love and plenty of other emotions and moods from a very vulnerable place. I take an objective approach to writing being able to sing of deep love and love that is more dangerous than good. In a world where the average artist seeks the next trends, I do my very best to stick to a sound unlike others. One that still appeals to an audience. To form my niche

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
There really isn’t one favorite memory. I have a bunch but a most reoccurring one is one with me and my grandmother playing kickball in the hall of her house. I was about 7 at the time. My grandfather watched as we played and all who knew him knew that he wasn’t the man to give his time to anything like this.
