Check Out Shakti JG’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakti JG.

Hi Shakti, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into healing began long before I ever heard the word Tantra. It began in the quiet moments of survival—when I learned to breathe through pain, to find meaning in chaos, and to keep believing that freedom was possible.

As a survivor of human trafficking, I carried trauma in every cell of my body. The journey out of that life was not just about escape—it was about reclaiming my voice, my worth, and my ability to feel safe within myself again. Healing wasn’t immediate. It came in layers, through movement, breath, stillness, and eventually through the sacred teachings of Tantra.

When I first encountered Tantra, it wasn’t about sexuality or mysticism. It was about coming home to my body—learning that I could experience pleasure without pain, touch without fear, and love without losing myself. For a year, I lived and breathed Tantra under my gurus, surrendering completely to the practice. I didn’t come to it seeking power or profession; I came because I wanted to heal. I was tired of being a slave to shame, guilt, and the religious dogma that had kept me from experiencing my body as sacred. Tantra gave me permission to see myself—and all of life—as divine.

I deepened my studies in Thailand and India, immersing myself in yoga, meditation, breathwork, and energy healing. Those years of disciplined practice shaped not only my philosophy but my entire approach to transformation. Over time, my work expanded globally—teaching and hosting retreats across Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Morocco.

Today, through my brand Shakti Living, I guide people from all walks of life—survivors, seekers, athletes, and even high-profile clients—through the same process of remembrance and reclamation. My work focuses on intimacy, embodiment, and longevity, blending ancient wisdom with modern healing science.

Tantra, for me, is the alchemy of transformation. It’s what turns pain into purpose, fear into freedom, and the past into a living source of wisdom. My journey has taken me from darkness to devotion, and now, every breath, every teaching, and every sacred connection with another soul is an invitation—to return home to love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path of healing is rarely linear—and mine was anything but. After leaving a life of trafficking and military sexual trauma, I carried the invisible weight of PTSD, brain injuries, and deep emotional scars. As a veteran, survivor, and new mother, I had to rebuild myself from the inside out.

When my son was born, I was in my thirties, going back to college while still recovering from multiple concussions. Simple things like focus, memory, and concentration were daily challenges. I chose attachment parenting and nursed my son until he was seven, which brought incredible closeness but also deep exhaustion. Balancing motherhood, studies, and healing alone was intense.

During a particularly dark postpartum phase—when I truly wondered how I would make it through—something extraordinary happened. One night, Tony Robbins reached out to me. He had heard my story and offered guidance when I needed it most. Tony personally invested in my healing journey, sending me to every event he had. Those experiences reignited my faith in possibility and reminded me that support can come in the most unexpected ways.

There were still moments of profound loneliness—trying to build a life in one of the wealthiest areas in the world, often feeling like an outsider. I faced disappointments, even in the yoga and spiritual communities, where integrity didn’t always match the teachings. But those challenges deepened my devotion to authenticity and service.

Then came the pandemic. Just as my retreat business was beginning to grow, the world shut down. Yet even in that stillness, I found purpose again—helping other survivors cope through holistic healing modalities: breathwork, meditation, Reiki, and embodied Tantra practices.

Each of these obstacles became a teacher. They reminded me that healing isn’t about perfection; it’s about resilience, compassion, and the courage to begin again. Every experience—every setback—became part of the alchemy that transformed my pain into purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What do you do?
I work with the most sacred and delicate part of our human existence—intimacy. My mission is to help people heal their relationship with their bodies, their pleasure, and their capacity for authentic connection. Through my retreats, private work, and online teachings, I guide individuals and couples to release shame, reconnect with their sensual energy, and experience deeper presence in love and life.

What do you specialize in?
I specialize in teaching the art of embodied intimacy through Tantra. My work blends ancient Eastern practices with modern psychology and energy medicine to help people awaken to their full potential in love, sex, and relationships. Ultimately, it’s about divine union—the sacred embrace of the masculine and feminine energies within us, and how that alignment transforms the way we connect with others.

What are you known for?
I’m best known for my powerful yab yum connection practice, which has become a signature experience at my retreats and private sessions. I’m also recognized for my willingness to speak openly about subjects most people avoid—politics, religion, health, sex, and money—and how all of these shape our sense of freedom and intimacy.

What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my illustrated book, Unf*ck Your Sex Life, and my TEDx Talk, which almost didn’t make it to the stage. Both represent years of courage, healing, and the willingness to use my voice to break silence and stigma. They are symbols of transformation—not just for me, but for anyone who’s ever felt too broken or too afraid to share their truth.

What sets you apart from others in your field?
What sets me apart is my relentless commitment to vulnerability and authenticity. I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. My trauma and lived experience are what make me relatable. We live in a world full of filters, masks, and curated perfection—but real transformation happens when we strip that away and meet each other in truth. My work isn’t about performance or perfection; it’s about presence, healing, and remembering that every part of us—even the broken parts—is sacred.

I also believe deeply in the family dynamic—in helping people build and sustain passionate, lasting, intimate relationships and marriages. I want to see more people thriving in love, not just finding it. Tantra, when practiced consciously, becomes the art of sustaining desire, devotion, and divine union for a lifetime.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. For me, everything begins with intention and energetic alignment—being prepared, focused, and expecting what I desire to unfold. I consider myself a climax creator, meaning I use the power of my sexual energy as a spiritual practice to manifest what I want to bring into being.

In Tantra, this is part of the sacred path—harnessing the energy of orgasm, not just for pleasure, but as a creative force. In the moment of climax, I focus on my mantras, visions, and desires, channeling that energy into manifestation. It’s about turning energy into matter, vibration into reality. When I’m consistent with this practice, everything in my life flows—my work, my creativity, my abundance, and my impact. When I drift from it, I feel the difference immediately.

Alongside that, I have a deep and unwavering faith in God and in the divine intelligence that’s always guiding us. I believe everything is always working out for our highest good, even when it doesn’t look like it in the moment. Our challenges aren’t punishments—they’re invitations. They shape us, refine us, and remind us who we truly are: presence, vulnerability, surrender, and openness. Those are the qualities I live by, and they’re at the heart of everything I teach.
