Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Sedghizadeh.
Hi Sam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Iran until age 17 and moved to LA in 2017 and started working at a restaurant and at the same time found a job that I learned how to repair rugs and tapestries and long story short, I fall in love with the whole Rugs and the whole antique culture and started researching more about antique rugs and tapestries. Which that made me into collecting them and flip them on 3rd party websites which it came to the point that I was gaining really good reputation and reviews on websites such as eBay, Etsy, Chairish, 1stDibs, Incollect and etc or even offering up and started working with one of the best designers all around the country by advertising into the business and working with Big Brands like Y & B Bolour and taking over the company and becoming partners and building amazing relationship closer than a family member. And expanding the website, getting active on social media, working with big brands such as Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Getty Museum and etc. and still working harder than ever to go global and be able to sell antiques to Royalty families in Europe and big collectors in Asia and get the Y & B Bolour to name out there.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Coming to the country with barely speaking the language taking ESL classes taking the bus for two years saving up money, making new friends, new relationships, new experiences and a new environment had ups and downs went from sleeping in the car to being on magazines and making big moves and being a productive person and trying to go Global with my brands They say life is like riding a bicycle, to keep ur balance you must move forward
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My profession before started selling rugs was repairing and cleaning them and now start flipping them and my most important job is buy / sell / trade the right pieces from all around the country or even the world, always looking for unique pieces and always in touch with designers making sure every rug that goes and comes in all in order because not a lot of people by looking at the rug can tell what type and how old is the rug which that takes a lot of experience just being around rugs and different type of rugs or tapestries and reading about their culture and story of each rug or tribe that made those masterpieces.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
To whoever starting their own business, I suggest that always keep a great attitude and rule number one is manners and never burn no bridges and always be transparent with the people that you do business with.
