Today we’d like to introduce you to SadBois. Them and their team share their story with us below:
– Elias Costidis uploaded his first track in 2012, went through multiple projects before deciding on “SadBois”
– Elias teamed up with his brother, George, and long-time family friend, Peter Buffolino, in 2019 leading to the creation of SadBois debut EP, “Worlds Apart”
– Their track, “Her”, in 2020 was their first breakthrough track, reaching 40k streams on Spotify, a huge jump compared to previous tracks.
– They released “A SadBois Christmas” in December 2020, a fun EDM approach to classic seasonal tracks
– Somebody Else was the track that marked a change in the sonic identity of SadBois, away from future bass to a rocktronic sound that has become a staple in their current and upcoming releases.
– Previous key releases include: “Starlight” with PatFromLastYear featuring Brennan, released on Airwave Music, and has been one of the most well-received tracks to date, about to reach 150 k streams on Spotify, and “On The Inside” with Nikademis and Meggie York released on Proximity.
– SadBois received their first industry support in 2022 from William Black who played their collaborative cover of We The Kings “Check Yes, Juilet” with Inphecs, Twin Lights, and Livingston Crain across his tour and most importantly at Ultra Miami.
– SadBois also broke onto the live scene in 2022, joining ARMNHMR on their “Waiting for Love” Tour in Buffalo as special guests alongside Fairlane. This debut show was quickly followed with an opening set for Said The Sky in Syracuse NY, and their hometown debut with a direct support slot for Nikademis in NYC. Most recently they were direct support for Puppet on his “Time Well Spent Tour”.
– Sincerely EP, a collaborative project with Twin Lights, released in June, showcasing the future of SadBois sound, bringing rock elements into EDM in a unique style.
– SadBois have received more industry support from Fairlane, Caslow, and Mazare all playing out original SadBois edits and mashups in their sets and radio shows
– SadBois and longtime friend and fellow Long Islander “VNDETTA” connected to remix Backfired by 408 and Taylor Acorn which was played out by ILLENIUM on his radio show/ Apple Music podcast
– With major collaborations in the works, 2023 is set to be SadBois biggest year to date
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
– The biggest struggle has been trying to get recognition and finding success in record label releases,
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
SadBois take pride in the fact that they are not classically trained producers, instead Elias has learned through years of work how to bring the SadBois vision to life. Through years of trial and error, they have found their sound and now are working to perfect it.
Songwriting is a source of pride for SadBois, bringing emotion into every aspect of each track sets them apart from many producers. Their fusion of bass and rock music has been praised by many in the industry as unique, they look to pull electronic elements into rock music instead of having rock flairs in electronic songs as most artists do. While many “Rocktronic” artists seem to take the genre in a heavier direction, SadBois want the beauty of rock music to be the predominant sound, using electronic elements to amplify and draw attention to the more pretty side of rocktronic music.
Any big plans?
SadBois are excited for the future.
They have collaborations with some major names in the industry
SadBois sound has been refined over the last couple of years and the next wave of music looks to be the most professional sounding music yet.
They’re also refining their live performances to bring in live instruments such as bass, acoustic, and electric guitar as well as implementing drum pad use, circling out an engaging, exciting live performance
SadBois is looking to present a well-rounded, professional project in 2023
