Check Out Ronnie Dai’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Dai

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from Art Center, where I was trained to shoot big budget commercials. However, finding work in that field was challenging. I noticed a high demand for e-commerce photography and decided to leverage my skills in this niche. Unlike typical e-commerce photographers who often produce generic images, I bring a high level of expertise in lighting and composition. This has allowed me to offer clients much more than they would expect, leading to the establishment of my high-end e-commerce photo studio in Los Angeles.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At the beginning of my career, it was really challenging because, while I had the training to be a good photographer, I was pretty illiterate on the business side, especially when it came to turning my skills into a product and advertising it. It took a while and involved a lot of trial and error. However, once I figured out how to approach my photography career as a business, everything became much more straightforward. Learning to market myself and understand the business aspects was crucial to my success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our studio is unique because we blend high-end commercial photography techniques with e-commerce photography. This fusion allows us to deliver exceptional quality that stands out in the market. Additionally, we host ‘Studio Sessions,’ a series of dance parties that infuse our space with creativity and energy, reminiscent of Boiler Room and Book Club Radio events. This dynamic environment keeps our team inspired and our work fresh.

What matters most to you? Why?
Money! lol! While money is definitely important, what truly keeps me going in this business is something much more meaningful. It’s about helping people out. I’ve encountered many wonderful individuals who have a normal job but dream of doing something they love. They start small businesses, like selling fine glasses imported from Japan or creating their own sunglasses brand. They invest a lot of time perfecting their products, ensuring every detail is just right.

Once they receive their samples, they need to show them to the world. Only a few people will see these products in person; most will see them online. This is why photos are so crucial. I’m grateful when they choose me to take their photos because I get to help bring their vision to life. Seeing their products on their website, captured exactly as they imagined, gives me immense satisfaction. Helping people achieve their vision and finish what they started is what truly matters to me.
